The album with the best first 3 songs
During the Nevermind anniversary, i gave the album another listen. And take out the first 3 songs, it's a pretty ordinary album.
Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom and Come As You are. Pretty epic songs. But the other songs were forgettable. So i thought, is there an album that has a better 3 song start than Nevermind? Then i thought of Ænima, which of course starts with Stinkfist, Eulogy and H. And those 3 totally blow the previous 3 out of the water. I don't think it gets any better as an album than Ænima as it is, but the start is unbelievable. |

Blondie's Parallel Lines is pretty damn perfect the whole way through. But Hanging On The Telephone, One Way or Another & Picture This just flow so well.
If anyone does not own this album, GET IT NOW! |

Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
1. Astral Weeks 2. Beside You 3. Sweet Thing But then I would have answered with the same album if the thread was asking for albums with the best first 8 songs (I think you can guess how many songs are on the album ) It's quite simply the most beautiful and affecting album I have ever heard.

Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
The first three songs (the main singles) are good. The rest is really just cheesy filler. My opinion of course

Peter Gabriel's So springs to my mind immediately;
Red Rain Sledgehammer Don't Give Up Although the whole album is epic (just listening to In Your Eyes - one of the loveliest endings to an album ever IMO) these tracks start the proceedings well, and are fairly diverse in their styles. |

Pet Shop Boys - Behaviour
1. Being Boring 2. This must be the place I waited years to leave 3. To Face the Truth Lots of people love the album as a whole. It's good but its first 3 tracks are outstanding and far better than the rest of it, in my opinion. The first two songs, 'Being Boring' and 'This must be the place I waited years to leave' are two of the most hauntingly beautiful and subtley but deeply emotional pop songs ever created. |

Kings Of Leon: Only By The Night
1. Closer 2. Crawl 3. Sex On Fire (Tracks 4 and 5 - Use Somebody and Manhattan) Were also great. Shame that the second half of the album (Cold Desert aside) didn't really match the great opening. |

I'm surprised there aren't already 376 replies on here proclaiming the first 3 tracks of Fame Monster to be the greatest things ever written in the entire history of music.
Anyway, I can beat top first three songs on an album by just naming two: Shine On You Crazy Diamond Welcome to the Machine comprising Side 1 of Wish You Were Here. Doesn't get much better than that...with the possible exception of: The Queen is Dead Frankly Mr. Shankly I Know It's Over and Disorder Day of the Lords Candidate and Debaser Tame Wave of Mutilation |
