Duran Duran were top of my New Romantics list, but I also have things by Culture Club, Soft Cell, Spandau Ballet, Nick Kershaw, Haircut 100, Tears for Fears, The Cure, The Smiths, The Alarm, The Damned, New Model Army, The Cult, Sisters of Mercy, Madness, Police, Blondie, New Order, Simple Minds, The Pretenders, The Jam, The Specials.
I could go on as I was an 80s teenager. |

I was 10 at the start of the decade, 20 at the end of it, music from the 80s makes up a large collection on my shelves

ABC were my band of the 80s. Classic, over the top, unashamed POP! And Martin Fry really should have been a superstar.

OK. I'll narrow it down otherwise it would be a huge list.
I liked and continue to like: Madonna, Prince, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Janet Jackson, Grace Jones,The SOS Band and quite few more. Liked after the event (ie got into them later): Duran Duran, Propaganda, ABC, Tears for Fear's and a few more-particularly like the 80s electro stuff. Liked them at the time but now question my judgement(or sanity): Wham! Five Star MJ and quite a few more....![]()

The Cure - I love that band so much!
I also like New Order , The Smiths , Blondie And not sure if these would be considered 80's bands probably late 70's, but they had commercial success in the 80s Motorhead, AC DC , The Clash , early Red Hot Chili Peppers and David Bowie. Probably some others too that I can't remember

Remembrance Day is still in my top 10 fave songs. Nowhere Girl and Marilyn Dreams were good as.well. They should have been bigger.

I could go on as I was an 80s teenager. That would be Nik Kershaw - Who is still around recording stuff with his own label and in my opinion far better than the 80's. check vimeo and youtube...And yes, Kershaw fan, in case that wasn't obvious... |

Has anyone mentioned the sublime Flock of Seagulls yet? What a brilliant group they were!

I still like Five Star! Can't Wait was an absolute classic. All Fall Down, Rain and Shine, Stay Out Of My Life, If I Say Yes, were all good. Sadly, they're probably now mainly remembered for that appearance on Going Live, in 1989...

I have a soft spot for those 12" remixes and extended remixes from the '80s.
This is one of my favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uEwj4TQf5A&feature=fvsr ...I especially love the part between 4:16 and 4:32. Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" is one of my favourite '80s albums. |

These days it's paint by number remixes with very little thought. I got hold of recently the house mixes from 1987 of Family Man by Fleetwood Mac and Ever Fallen in Love by Fine Young Cannibals-now they where a great group as well. |

I'd have loved to have been around in the 80s! I grew up through the 90s, but my music taste now is heavily 80s. The Human League, Gary Numan, Wham!, Madness, Prince, Duran Duran.....
But my absolute firm favourite is Depeche Mode |
