..she's the only one worth looking out for.

She's had a lot of great press since she left.

I doubt it didn't she say she wanted to join a band anyway.

No she won't. Diana Vickers had much more hype, press attention and controversy around her when she was on the show and had similair voting stats to Janet and she "only" had one hit single (which still only made 200K) and #1 album (which flopped, even with an X-Factor performance and re-release).

I would love it it she ended up being really successful. Perfect karma for Syco for the way they went out of their way to stop her winning.

She'll have more success in fluffing her lines than having a successful musical career

I may be completely wrong but I would be surprised if anyone even remembers her in about six months time.

There's always an element of timing and luck though isn't there?

Diana made a good album - I was an anti-fan of hers on the show if anything, but her album was really good. I hope she hasn't given up.

Janet was the only one who stood out to me on that bloody advert we couldn't get away from Even though I preferred other contestants I missed her vocal when she was edited out of it.

We'll see. Really liked her in the first stages of the show this year. But started to dislike her more and more during the liveshows. Not her personality, but her performances.

Diana wasn't as popular as Janet on the show : she only ever topped the poll once.

Not that this has anything to do with Janet but ....

Why do people refer to #1 single followed by a #1 album as a flop? WTF is a success if that is a flop? Duh!

You don't have to sell five bazillion million quadrillion to be a "success" you know! I suspect Diana was not displeased with that at all.

Ok, she has not followed that up. Maybe she won't, indeed, maybe she will completely disappear, and it will turn out to be a one-album wonder. Or maybe she will get re-signed, get her second album, which I believe I heard she is writing, published and maybe even it will do well. I don't know, but give the girl a chance!

But just prenouncing someone who's first single hit #1 and who's first album also hit #1 as a "flop" is just stupid IMO. It's like all those idiots who call Matt Cardle a flop already. He *might* have a short-lived career, or he may be around a while, I have no idea, but it is not all just about one music label or selling billions of the first album.

Hardly, she's not as good a singer as a lot of people make her out to be.

... and back on topic, this is the truth here. I believe Janet has a better platform leaving the X Factor than Diana Vickers ever did.

Diana wasn't a flop in my book : she did extremely well for an act who didn't even make the X Factor final.

That is 100% a subjective opinion, and you should have the intelligence to realize that. It is not about whether you like her or not, it is about whether there are enough who do.

Personally, I adore Janet's voice, and will buy her first album instantly I hear she has released one. If enough others feel as I do (and I believe there are), it really really doesn't matter if there are lots of others (like you) who do not like her or rate her.

Yes, and there was a lot more talent that year, so, much more competition.

Alexandra, JLS, Ruth, Laura, and of course, the people's favorite Eoghan, who consistently won the voting for 6 weeks.

Um, where is he now?

Janet, could, for all intents and purposes, be referred to, as this years Eoghan Quigg.

You can't really draw a comparison between the talent laden X Factor of 2008, with the serious lack of talent in the 2011 series.

Quite a few reports/articles refer to X Factor 2011, as the worst series ever.

Which is why Janet should have been in the final. It's quite outrageous that Marcus was there instead of her seeing as he didn't top the poll once in ten weeks.

Well Marcus obviously has more fans than her. Suck it up.

According to some people on here any chart position or number of sales figures a flop

I think you missed the point.

Who the people vote for, and tops the voting each week, does NOT necessarily mean that the person they are voting for, is the best singer on the show.

Eoghan Quigg being a prime example of that theory. Topping the votes for 6 weeks, and coming 3rd, did not translate into success for his music career. Rather the opposite.

Not to mention he was almost in the bottom 2 on week 7 if he wasn't on last he would have been

I think the vast majority of people, if asked, would say "Janet who?". Most people have forgotten her already, along with the vast majority of the contestants this year.

Little Mix *might* do ok for a while, but I wouldn't put money on that. Kitty might pop her head above water briefly, and Marcus / Amelia just might bob along just above the surface for a while. Nobody will have a stellar career this year - least of all those who forget words and can't sing.

Success as an irish pop sensation, yeah maybe

and thats about it really, she is popular but success of XF depends on talent, and well she is a work in progress.

How does it not matter and how is it a subjective opinion? It does matter if hardly anyone will buy her music. And don't insult my intelligence for having an opinion.

Can she? Based on what exactly?

Based on the fact that he was from Ulster and got many votes in his year? And based on ... what else? I put it to you, that is the only thing they have in common.

Tell me, were you around on these forums at that time?

If so, do you recall after X Factor that year, the furore about why he didn't win? Why the X Factor was fixed to stop him winning, why there was huge manipulation to try to stop them getting him as a winner? How all his fans were annoyed and ranting? How he attracted interest all over the world? How he attracted positive comment from celebrities and musicians alike? How he received recording contract offers straight after the show?

Well, I was around then, and I can tell you that I don't remember any of those things happening. Why was that?

Because ... none of them happened. He wasn't interesting enough or good enough. Personally, I thought Eoghan was utter crap, but that's just my opinion. Unfortunately for him, so did almost everyone else, which is why he got nowhere.

But Janet Devlin has had every one of those things happening.

Get back to me in 3 years time and tell me about how she disappeared. I suspect you won't be doing that.
