Do you know what I love Natalie but it amazes me how she gets away with all her skirt wafting when she has a duffer. But Aliona gets slated for hiding flaws.

That's because the divine Natalie is a bona fide Goddess!

Dance-wise Aliona is pretty well up there in Goddess territory, but personality-wise, not. (Clearly on this thread there are lots of posters who would disagree with that view...)

Natalie is a Goddess for sure. But this thread is about Aliona being Smokin!

I think Aliona is far more like Pasha as in wanting even the dufferiest duffer to actually learn correct technique (see Fatskia training vids of Jonny above) and do some correct footwork. Maybe that means she has to give them a bit less to do choreographic ally but at least what they do is technically better than some duffers who just pose and grin with jazz hands.

Unfortunately the judges do not reward correct technique and as you say, it does mean that the quantity has to be lower to give the time to getting the technique right.
Rav's Rumba for example - a guy who hadn't danced before doing a Rumba in week 1.
Aliona lookin' smokin' hot - so it's on topic.

I haven't seen that dance of Rav's for years. He looks like he wants to pick her up and run off with her .

To use a term I've just used in the Peter Andre thread, Aliona there was "running interference" for Rav in that video, she'd made half a dozen 360 degree turns before he'd even moved a foot! Quite often the pros try to deflect the attention of the judges and more so the voting audience. A good performance from the pro can kid the less knowledgeable voters into thinking they've seen a good dance from the celebrity.

When it comes to running interference for her celeb, Aliona is head and shoulders above the other female pros. She's also the best pro (male or female) at working the public vote.

Aliona knows how to win. Which is what it is all about, yes?

She also produces some amazing choreography on the way.

Certainly fooled me into thinking Rav had good Rumba technique in week 1 for a man who had never danced before Strictly.

I'm not saying the quantity was high, but Rav had Rumba arms and hips and sold the dance by looking totally comfortable dancing it.

she isn't as 'showy' as some of the others...but I have always liked her since her first series...my only complaint would be she looked a bit cheesed off last year when they landed her that greg the chef bloke..her third duffer on the run admittedly....but she won the christmas SCD trophy too didn't she?

Yes she did win the Xmas special. A brilliant routine with Louis. I think she looked understandably cheesed off when she got Gregg!

Well I guess Aliona hasn't been promoting her calendar as much this year as she has in the past.......... and certainly not compared with Gleb and Ola (and James for Ola) who have been retweeting anyone who even mentions about their calender

*itchy twitter unfollow button finger*
