I expected 6-6.5m for Wipeout given how well the Impressions Show repeat did last year. Bit below par that at 5.4m.

Yikes, poor, poor night for ITV, especially Westlife.

I would say that is an excellent rating. Given it was on at 6pm and secured a 25% share (one in four watching BBC One at 6pm). Most ITV shows in primetime would kill to get an audience share of above 20%.

I get the feeling that many who are Westlife fans would also be strictly fans. There is only one SCD final whereas they can always watch Westlife again. Anyway, they are well passed their sell by date, glad they are finished

Hilariously bad for the Westlife programme. Would this Saturday make ITV's prime time share the worst ever?

And is 3D included in that figure? Not there will be many I guess
BBC HD is reported separately, so I assume not.

Lot's of confusion last night, with 3d viewers not getting 3d, because they weren't pointed to BBC HD (where the 3d was broadcast) from BBC One HD.

Why the CA just said "Now on BBC One and BBC One HD..." and not mention "and in 3d on BBC HD" is beyond me.

Bruce and Tess mentioned 3d, but not where to find it.

I'm glad Westlife did so badly. They're certainly not a band deserving of going out with a bang.

Do we know if the big movie premiere of The Boat That Rocked rocked?

Or sank without a trace?

Agreed, they were just a band that did cover versions for the most part.

I didn't watch the west life program but was Christine Bleakly hosting. I read it on another fourm that she was.

Wow ITV must be a bit worried about Dancing on Ice now is she was. She is really not a popular host.

I switched off after 15 minutes - what a waste of talent.

And if I had a tip for the Beeb this Christmas - stop running that bleedin Consider Yourself trailer. It's doing my head in now, and presumably millions more.

The full length ident version aired before both editions of SCD and aired again as the trailer immediately after SCD results. So if you watched SCD tonight, you saw 3 airings of it.

Whenever I see David Jason stood by that fireplace I switch over. I can't be the only one.

This could have a somewhat ironic ratings impact this year if a trailer designed to "sell" BBC1 ends up forcing viewers to switch over - presumably to ITV1 in most cases!
Nope I do too! He looks really creepy in the ad. And I like David Jason!
I agree with both comments. It's quite annoying.

You know on Christmas Day they will probably air it between every programme to ramp up the Christmas 'you're in the right place' feel, so it will be debatable what will be more annoying, the BBC1 trailer or the adverts for the DFS Sale (Doors open 9am Boxing Day)

Is that Westlife rating the lowest ever on a Saturday night for ITV or did The Prisoner drop that low for some of the episodes??

The Prisoner had a couple episodes which rated at only 1.6m and one of its episodes had just 0.7m! The Marriage Ref earlier this year also had 1.40m and 1.51m overnights.

Harry Potter did pretty much as expected. If they had wasted new programmes last night they would probably have rated much lower.

The Westlife rating shows how Twitter can't be trusted, at one point it was trending higher than anything to do with SCD.

Besides Westlife being about 1m lower than they'd want, everything was as expected last night.

It looks like CCWWTBAM is being recorded today for airing tomorrow, so maybe it will be a bit more polished than the live ones tend to be.

Celebs taking part include Tom Fletcher & Dougie Poynter from McFly and Sara Cox and Richard Madeley from BBC Radios 1 and 2.

It starts tomorrow in the usual Corrie 8:30 slot so might hook the viewers in and get a good rating.

Shows how dependent ITV are on the two Cowell shows on Saturdays as nothing comes near them in the ratings at other times. I'm surprised they didn't churn out some ancient clips from You've Been Framed to fill up the schedule.
Excellent for SCD, I must admit the choreography, the standard of the dancing and Bruce's awful jokes were on form. A few years ago there were rumours the show was in decline, but this year it's bounced back and 12.2 million is an excellent figure.

Nope, the one recording tonight is the New Year special airing on 3rd January. Tomorrow's episode is live. I assume those are the celebrities for the New Year special? If so, not sure who's on tomorrow, but I agree that it should get a decent audience in that slot (5m+). I still think they should do a 6-8 week run of live episodes on Fridays at 9pm next year - I bet it'd do quite well.

More proof that being shown opposite dear old Corrie isn't the kiss of death it once was( ask any Doctor Who fan about one of the reasons the original series was cancelled). Indeed faced with decent opposition like SCD and a less political Panorama episode it can find audiences turning off. Indeed most men, middle class and Southern viewers find CS a turn off, so there is a huge audience of antis.

I was well out with my predictions last night, SCD did well but I think some Jason Donovan viewers will have switched off once he was eliminated, meaning Harry McFly was a dead cert against Chelsea WR. Excellent rating for Merlin, decent for Winter Wipeout too.

ITV1 did pretty badly with both Harry Potter & Westlife under performing, the latter dramatically. I am not sure what they could have shown Harry Potter always seems too long with all the ad breaks and Westlife just don't have a tv audience really. In the last weekend before Christmas some advertisers may be seeking a partial refund from ITV1.

#BBC1's peak (18.00-22.30) and all day share was three times that of its nearest rivals (exc +1 channels).
So BBC1 maybe 45% primetime peak share versus 15% for ITV1? The all day shares around 39% & 13% respectively?

Ouch for Channel 5, excellent for BBC2 beating ITV1 from 9pm onwards. BBC1 primetime more than 4 times ITV1, what a result for BBC1. Decent share for C4 with a festive schedule last night.

Damn, I forgot these initials stand for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, I honestly thought this was some celeb game show on BBC One. However, it is true that the opposition no longer wilt against Coronation St and the show's audience penetration is down to about 37 per cent now, which proves there are millions of antis, same as EE is no longer the massive ratings juggernaut it was in the eighties and a show like The Lakes can pull in 4.5 million against it.
