It seems strange that they can change the schedule to 6.30pm, though. Celebrity Big Brother is hardly an excuse as they managed to air the news at 7 over the summer/autumn. Between the two time slots, I'd say 6.30pm is better for the channel. Though is the 5pm bulletin required because of the quota? That appears pretty redundant to me considering there's another 30 minute bulletin 60/90 minutes (depending on the evening start time) after it finishes.
In terms of quotas, the 5pm will contribute to overall news hours. If C5 totally lost the plot and axed it, they would have to make up the time elsewhere, most probably through reinstating a 'proper' lunchtime bulletin watched by 200,000 at most, if recent typical C5 lunchtime ratings are anything to go by |

It wouldn't be a bad idea, if people have the data readily to hand, to post on here a big final top 30, or perhaps 40, once all the consolidated ratings are out next week. Just the once, not to keep reposting it for reference during the year (we can keep it to the usual 20), but it would be nice to see a big list of the top shows of the year, not just the biggest ones.

As regards to the thread, I'm struggling to keep up with how quickly this thread moves. Maybe a sticky thread wouldn't be such a bad idea or even a subforum to incorporate all ratings-related threads including our stuff i.e. TXF Ratings Thread etc and so forth

Guys, what the actual ...
![]() I posted a few days ago and can't be arsed to keep going back in time to find the post! This thread is literally too big now, does anyone have some method to go to the last post you read after you get off the thread? Wasn't too surprised "Downturn Abbey" had such a phenomenal timeshift; I did prophesy 2m+ a few days ago, but the thread imploded so much along with this, and the Alesha Dixon Jumps Strictly Sinking Ship furore that I simply cannot find the post any more to gloat! On a serious note though, this community is outgrowing the thread. I read the thread nearly every day, despite not having much time to contribute as much as I used to. But I miss so much due to the constraints of the thread format. The growth is insane! I almost feel as though the community now deserves a Ratings (sub)forum. Imagine the possibilities: overnights could be posted in separate threads, and discussed separately to ongoing discussions; those of us who enjoy posting opinion pieces, or analyses, would be free to make threads; those who feel their voice is lost could find a voice; and it would allow for a greater depth of discussion, in that the display of the topics would allow people space to breathe. Maybe I'm ahead of myself, and it's probably been suggested before (and I probably missed it! ), but I think the community is so large and fast moving now that it deserves more than a thread. The thread started properly in January 2007 and look at the growth per year: 2007 - 1 thread 2008 - 2 threads [+100% yoy] 2009 - 3 threads [+50% yoy] 2010 - 9 threads [+200% yoy] ![]() 2011 - 14 threads [+55% yoy] Despite the amount of threads plateauing, not all threads had the same number of posts... some had up to 9000 posts per thread! So this data is not enough.I did a quick maths sum on the past threads (and this doesn't include a couple I couldn't find on the board) and the total number of posts since 2007 is over 100,000!. I'm sure someone better than me at figures could generate some fascinating statistics with this data, and certainly data to support a forum being considered! We haven't even talked about the number of VIEWS each thread has, or the number of lurkers (who could potentially be contributors on a Ratings forum!)While not the giant of say soaps or the UK TV forum, compare to Broadband Internet forum - that has 167,000 posts, which is about equal. The comics forum has just 3000 posts in 259 threads! I think we may just be too big for a thread now... I think many posts in this thread are beyond valuable. rzt, D.M.N. and others contribute brilliant posts, while many, many others offer interesting, insightful opinion (even if we don't all agree! )There are so many characters and great posters and it's now getting impossible to keep up. I'm missing posts. I'm missing pages. Tens of them. In days, it seems! I want to catch up - but it's too hard! Maybe the community is nicer smaller, and growing it would be hard and a big change. Maybe that's why DS haven't done it. But I thought I'd put it out there and see what people think. I think we're much more than a thread, and the community has a big future, potentially as a sub forum or even main forum on the forum homepage! ![]() |

If ratings gets a forum when wrestling doesn't have one, ooh, there'd be trouble. The River Tiber foaming with much blood.

We all have different opinions naturally. Highest rated debut comedy in a while........the shame of just 8.25m viewers (how embarrassing for DJ to have that rating on his resume?....)

Mrs Brown's Boys has become a genuine hit although the critics don't like it but it's an old fashioned family sitcom, just with a lot of swearing. I think should it get another Christmas Special, it'll likely be Boxing Day again although it wouldn't surprise if Christmas Day 10/10.30pm is where it goes.

And the Daily Mail's version: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...astEnders.html (although there are two errors in the article I can spot)
Every comment gets a thumbs up, apart from a chap in Brighton who says the figures are wrong. EASTENDERS (SUN 2101) 11.33 DOWNTON ABBEY (SUN 2101) 10.67 http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weekly-...-overview?_s=4 So where does these other figures come from? Surely the ones above are the Officials as they are the ones posted on the BARB website

Mixed responses. Some disagree, some agree. Though thanks to Brekkie for the arrow tip.
Another idea would be to have a General TV News thread like they have on Gallifrey Base. |

A sub-forum would work quite well but I would be happy to keep reading as much as I can of the thread as it is though. The main thing is (and thanks to all that do post them) to keep the long lists of ratings prominent in one post, which makes it nice and easy to spot when skim reading and easy to compare the night across all the channels. |

I agree James, this thread has too many posters and is too popular for its own good. I wouldnt mind seeing a separate thread for purely scheduling issues and for this to become purely ratings talk. However, I dont think a separate thread would take off and everyone would just keep posting everything in here.

Any news on Daybreak ratings since the mini-relaunch (although its barely more than a few minor changes really)?

ITV has confirmed that the Coronation Street omnibus is to be moved from ITV1 to ITV2 with a resulting drop in repeat fees for the cast. Equity is in negotiation with ITV on their behalf as they receive about a third of their present fees from the repeat.

And just to emphasise this, here's the BBC1 line-up from ten years ago on Wednesday 10th January 2001, just a few months after the news moved to ten...

Absolutely nothing wrong with having a Boxing Day slot. Back in the 1970s, just about the only big sitcom to get Christmas Day slots was Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Stuff like Dad's Army, The Good Life, Porridge and The Likely Lads all took Christmas Eve or Boxing Day slots.

Has Jason actually parted company with ITV or is he just picking and choosing between them and the BBC ?

Reading between the lines re the Corrie omnibus: the value to ITV appears to be that repeats on a satellite channel only earn the actors a fraction of what they get from a repeat on a terrestrial channel so ITV will be making a substantial saving on the budget.
Don't Ant and Dec still have a ''golden handcuffs'' deal with ITV and I believe Nick Knowles (don't laugh) has one with the BBC, as demonstrated by their frantic attempts to find a vehicle for him.Presumably Chiles and Bleakley have an exclusive deal with ITV as well (unless that went when they were sacked from Daybreak ?) |

Downton's rating there is ITV1 SD only you need to add ITV1 HD to get the full rating. (BBC1 SD and BBC1 HD are automatically bundled together)

So in the case of ITV the BARB ''officials'' are not in fact the final figure so there is a built-in imbalance in the BARB system ? Surely BARB should carry a ''health warning'' that they are not comparing like with like ?

Not sure how reliable the Metro newspaper (Manchester Edition) is but it Claims that Birdsong is on in Late January and Upstairs downstairs is on in February, obviously these are the Sunday 9pm shows which follow Sherlock, it also says Being Human is on in the spring, but like I sais not sure how reliable all that is.
