Timeshift of 1.08m for the officials, very good final figure for the first episode, meaning it should settle at ~6m.

BBC One had a decent night, though both Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow were seemingly dented by Just Henry which just shows how important a crossover audience is considering Antiques Roadshow has performed better opposite The X Factor. Lost Christmas was slightly low but seemed a bit out of place in the schedule; franly I would've preferred it if they'd managed to work it between Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow to see if the two shows could give it a bit of a boost. Young James Herriott started well and doesn't have the most difficult of opposition over the next two nights (I expect Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire to rate around the same as Buble) so could hold up.

ITV1 will be satisfied with their night even if it wasn't brilliant for a December Sunday; at least neither Just Henry or Michale Buble recorded awful figures. What is it with the channel's obsession with Odd One In, though? It's never performed well yet they keep churning out episodes. I guess it must be very cheap to make meaning that even 2.9m results in a profit.

Channel 5 will be very satisfied with their day with the films proving a success, leading them to maintaining an audience of above 1m between quarter to three to 10pm. Urban Justice seems to be a slightly weird programme to follow on from Hancock and maybe that's why the audience dipped at that point but then again 10pm isn't exactly family time.

BBC Two will be very pleased with the Brian Cox figure and Match of the Day did well for them in the lunchtime slot; the peak is pretty impressive. Hoem For The Holidays started decently but Black Mirror struggled, presumably dented by Young James Herriot and Buble.

Doctor Who ought make the top 15, SCD Final ought make the top 5 (maybe top 3!) when the year end officials are released on January 9th 2012. DA will remain in the Top 10. I am not sure about new entries - there could be a couple of surprises.

I've seen trails for all of those, apart from Mrs Brown's Boys, but then I'm a sad case who watches junctions even when I don't have any interest in the programmes either side of them.

Thatnks for that. Not good though that the second episode of Strictly 3D basically lost 50% of it's audience (dropping from 53k to 27k).


I've seen nothing to suggest 4 judges on America's Got Talent - and after Sharron and Dannii got help any young female star selected to join the panel.

I think BGT are just keeping their options open due to Amanda's pregnancy so may go for three with Amanda joining the live shows and perhaps some auditions.

Home for the Holidays should fall tonight then - even if you enjoyed rather than endured the show, the way it kept screwing up the switch to each ad break made it look cheap.

Misfits for 0.86m for it's finale on E4 - benefitting slightly from no I'm a Celeb etc. as in recent weeks. Why they moved it to Sundays god knows - probably be on yet another night next series.

Any date yet for Skins to return - can't really see it winning back viewers it lost last series considering it's the same cast.

I've also seen trailers for some of these shows but not as often as the Consider Yourself promo. At times like this BBC1 seem to be more interested in advertising the whole channel rather than individual programmes.

Perhaps some of the shows in the "Christmas cornicopia" arent as good as they look when not put to music?

In particular, I'm thinking Ab Fab might struggle to get enough good bits to make a compelling promo. As Robbie said earlier they may have to resort faking an upbeat promo for YJH.

DS has updated with tv ratings for the US where broadcasters are winding down for the holidays, but still nothing for the UK. Eh?!

Perhaps there's a lot of early adopters with active shutter glasses who couldn't take any more strain on their eyes, or couldn't afford glasses for all the family?

Perhaps. Or perhaps 3D tv is a headache-inducing gimmick that's never going to take off.

Hugely deserved. By far and away my favourite new series to come out of the U.S this year. I hope C4 treat it well.

They've put the final season of Desperate Housewives in graveyard shift of Wednesdays at 11.05pm, so it may get the 10pm slot.

Why have they done that? I don't recall the last series doing that badly numbers wise.

If they'd promoted it as being the last season too it might have got a bit of a boost. Makes no sense to me putting it in that slot, but there you go.

The latest passive sets have at least made 3d viewing comfortable for the long haul. I can even post and view without removing my glasses!!!

It's a ridiculous decision made by Channel 4. Apparently the first look episodes are still airing on a Sunday at 9pm, but yeah overall, talk about wrecking its chances of performing OK for DH standards. The most it will get in that slot is 500k max I would have thought.

You'll be lucky. I think the sort of show it is too means it'll be more the critics than the viewers watching it - I suspect like The Killing it'll just about break the million mark.


It didn't do that well at all last season - I think just hovering above the million mark, but I do think with it being the last series and C4 still having virtually no drama in their line up they might as well have stuck with it at 10pm.

BTW, how did True Blood average on C4 this year in it's 11pm slot?

Live Millionaire possibly heading for another shambolic finish, with 1 couple starting with less than 10 minutes to go, and the viewers' question still to be sorted out.

Any word on whether The Good Wife will have a slot on the new dumbed down More 4? Usually starts back in January...

does it really matter what they do with DH, its in its final series, and will probably be confused for Desperate Scouewives

The good news about C4, is that The Daily Show is returning. next year.

Thursdays at 9pm from Jan 12. Shame they dropped the C4 repeats after season one, had to get the HD version from other sources.

Frozen Planet officially averaged 8.24m over its 7 episode run.
