I see Shrek got 1.4m on BBC3 last night. The Shrek documentary at 9pm got 869,000.

I didn't realise Titanic next April is running consecutively over 4 days like this:

- Thursday 12th April: 21:00 to 22:00
- Friday 13th April: 21:00 to 22:00
- Saturday 14th April: 21:00 to 22:00
- Sunday 15th April: 21:00 to 22:00

I knew it was over 4 parts but didn't realise it was being stripped in this sense. DS's article says: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...-pictures.html

Quote:
“Titanic will debut on April 12, 2012, airing simultaneously in over 50 countries.

It will be broadcast on ITV1 in the UK, ABC in the US and on Australia's Seven Network.”

It can't possibly be simultaneous in 50 countries all over the world? Well it could, but that would mean some bizarre times in Australia and USA for instance?

Here's a quick look at the averages for new 6+ hour dramas this year:

1 - 7.36m - Scott & Bailey (ITV1)
2 - 6.35m - Vera (ITV1)
3 - 5.89m - Death in Paradise (BBC1)
4 - 5.85m - Silk (BBC1)
5 - 5.58m - The Body Farm (BBC1)
6 - 5.45m - Monroe (ITV1)
7 - 5.30m - Case Histories (BBC1)
8 - 3.29m - Outcasts (BBC1)

These 6+ hour dramas are the ones both BBC1 and ITV1 really need coming through making an impact to become solid returnable shows of the schedule year after year. More important than the 3-parters.”

An interesting read... in particular, I'm intrigued over whether The Body Farm will return. Has there been any news on a recommission? 5.58m as a consolidated series average isn't a disaster, but maybe the BBC were expecting a 6m+ official average, considering it was a spin off from Waking the Dead.

I think the BBC could bring it back and build audiences. It was an OK programme and had potential, but the stories and the writing would need to be better for the next series.

Have a merry Christmas everyone.

It'll be really quiet.

Because we'll all be watching EastEnders.*

Anything for World's Strongest Man Thursday and Friday please (C5 7pm). Would be interested to see if was able to continue it's strong start. And also anything for The Mentalist on Thursday which I've not seen reported on here yet

With regards to Joanthan Ross, doesn't he usually get good demographics? So perhaps not as bad in ad revenue terms as the overall rating seems

How many EE omnibus viewers would have known it was on at 12.20 last night? ”

I don't understand why EE wasn't given a morning BBC2 slot for it's omnibus today. The films they were showing didn't seem like anything special

Thanks, but I was looking for It's All About Amy and Celebrity Juice.

Pretty much sums up British film though - both TV and cinema would rather push a known Hollywood flop than a British film filed with British stars.

No sign of a Christmas truce then Robbie?

If it's any good can't see the US (or Australia for that matter) airing it on a Saturday night especially. I suspect a few countries would air it as 2 x 2hrs.

P.S. And god, isn't TV crap tonight. Indeed Outnumbered, Downton Abbey and Mrs Browns Boys about the only things worth watching over the next few days.

Jonathan Ross has tweeted saying the Abbey Christmas episode is really good because ITV have edited a five-minute Tim Minchin song into it.

I thought you'd be watching Winter Wipeout, or am I the only Ratings Threader who still watches Wipeout?

No reason why it shouldn't have been on BBC1. It could even have aired in the same slot tonight before Merlin instead of the bizarre Narnia repeat (of a film that repeated in an afternoon slot last year).”

I'm wondering if BBC1 put on The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe to get people into the spirit of Doctor Who's The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe? Hmm.

Also BBC1 have a few movie premieres but they're being trailed poorly and put in some rubbish timeslots.

I think more people would but are never quite sure when it's on and which episodes are new.

Excellent share for BBC THREE last night thanks to that evening devoted to Shrek - 4.1%, level with Channel 4.

In regards to Made in Dagenham, I think the TV rights must vary depending on the film as some BBC Films its a year for terrestrial TV whereas as other films like Nativity and The Duchess its two years, its the same for Film4.

I wonder why ITV has never considered launching ITV Films via ITV Global Ent as they had success with The Queen but they've done nothing since then.

Overnights:

Celebrity Juice - 1.70m
It's All About Amy - 0.33m

I think that was Celebrity Juice's 3rd highest ever overnight rating (1.77m, 1.74m). And I think that might be a record low for Channel 5 in a weeknight 10pm slot? I can't remember anything that low before!

Sorry about the poor punctuality of our ratings over the last few weeks - we've been a bit short staffed of late (running into the xmas holidays) - I'll be taking over the reigns until January so feel free to send any complaints/queries my way and I'll get back to you.

Merry Christmas all,

Here we go - sorry for the delay, caused by a bit of a mix up that's all... pretty dismal shares for C4 and C5 with ITV2 taking fourth spot...

Anyway, I'd better get back to my family... merry xmas everyone!

Thanks rzt.

Wow at both of those ratings, but for very different reasons. Excellent for Celebrity Juice, I was expecting half a million less than that as it hasn't been on for a few weeks and it normally takes a few weeks for the show to hit its stride ratings-wise. Absolutely awful for It's All About Amy, which will surely mean C5 will stop producing these shows. Ironically, Amy was a guest on Celebrity Juice at the same time as her own show was airing (where she came across as a vacuous moron), so she kind of helped to strike the killer blow to her own series (as it has been getting c0.5-0.6m before the Juice clash).

EDIT: Even better for Celebrity Juice to break 2m when +1 is included. I think that makes it its second highest audience ever. ITV2 will be looking forward to the start of the next series already.

Whilst you're here, when are DS going to start including +1 in the shares and programme information for Channel 5? Since they are comparable to ITV1+1/C4+1 in some instances I think they should be mentioned.
