Just seen the Young Inspector Morse trailer.

Inspired by the success of George Gently, perhaps?

Seems to be a clear copycat cash in using the Morse brand - with lashings of classical music...

That said, the Morse/Lewis franchise is ITV at its best, so do still have high hopes for this.

Strictly O/T, but just exactly how old is this edition of TV Burp ITV are showing now? At least 4/5 years by the looks of things.

What on earth has happened to NBC? It seems to have slipped down big time from the glory days of the 90s with ER, Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld etc.

They did the same thing last year.
It didn't have Phil huffing all the time did it?

Certainly I remember watching their 'best of the year' and it was from like 2007

Right, six days time sees the return of that veteran show, CBB, which did quite well for Channel 5 in the summer. Also with it being winter and storms forecast for next week, I'm going for 6 million for launch night and 3 million for the first few shows.
Channel 5, as I've said before, would be better when the contract ends for CBB/BB this summer, and BB shows no ratings improvement, cancelling BB and keeping CBB. Also CBB seems more watchable.

On a related note they've replaced the traditional black, red and white '5' sting coming in and out of breaks with a BB themed one today with the eye and the caption 'Starts Thursday.' They have also been running 'x days to go' style teases during breaks since Thursday. No sign of any ads on other channels yet, but marketing on billboards and buses has been extensive, see this beautiful beast here.

Provisionally I'm predicting ratings of 4m (inc. +1) for the launch, but I may adjust this slightly nearer the time. I guess it could do anything from 3 million all the way up to about 5 million, so I'm going for straight down the middle. Can't see it topping 5m this time, especially given it's a two-hour launch show instead of 1.5hrs like last time. It's kinda more important what happens after anyway and here is where I'm most unsure, but it all depends on who they get really and whether or not they make good TV.

I think it was broadcast Dec 26 2010,
Quote:

This Christmas, for the first time since 2006, TV Burp will not be having a new episode.
Instead of a new Christmas themed or Review of the Year episode, which previous years have had for the last recording of the series, a Best of Christmas TV Burp will be broadcast over the festive period. The schedule for the episodes are as follows:
Boxing Day, 8.30pm, ITV1
Repeated: Monday 27th, 11.45am, Wednesday 29th, 5.25pm, Thursday 30th, 5.30pm, ITV2”

The clips featured may go back 4/5 years, but the actual show looks like a repeat from a year ago.

Also the award for inexplicable schedule filler- repeats of Ladette to Lady on ITV1, who really wanted to watch a repeat of a reality show that has been axed. I suppose someone might find some musty recordings of Celebrity Fit Club and put them on one night.”

Any chance 2012 could be the year when you stop shoehorning either Laddette to Lady or Celebrity Love Island into every post? You keep talking as if they are current or even recent programmes.

Basically I find Channel 5 rubbish because 100% is on too often, and I can't stand Jack Docherty.

Actually the first series on Channel 5 looked fresh and the crowd outside didn't look as if they were penned in as much. Brian Dowling isn't a bad host and the whole thing looks fresher on Channel 5 as BB was starting to look dated on Channel 4.
I'm still going for a 3 million average, which is excellent for Channel 5, and better than many shows on ITV1 and BBC One. Not totally on topic, but the weather is going to be very nasty next week and this could help.

New year's resolution, forget these last decade shows, as there are equally bad offerings in this decade( I saw two minutes of Geordie Shore and wanted to die).
However, another of my awards- drama show that astounds everyone for its ratings durability- New Tricks, can pull in 8 million at times, not bad for an eight year old show with an old cast.
Also show with the wobbliest ratings- YBF has gone from 4 million to 1.5 million and back up again.

I did wonder how many confused ITV viewers would be scratching their heads thinking "Bugger, we missed the Bad Girls Christmas Special, love! When was that on?" or "Hasn't The Bill finished now?", and "Nothing from Downturn Abbey - surprising..."

Utterly bizarre scheduling to put something on that was clearly Christmas themed and said (by Harry in the programme) to be a look back at the highlights from the telly "this Christmas".

Sound of a barrel scraping with this.

Or ITV shareholders worried if audience share will go below 10 pc again and advertisers threatening to walk. I wonder what joys ITV1 have in store for next New Year's Eve, a Coronation St Family Album from 2005.

you joke but the "old dears" aka Corrie viewers will love that. It will be like catching up with family they have not seen for quite a few years, some of whom may be dead.

Old people tend to love catching up with the relatives, and also would love to see their dead loved ones more time.

A Corrie Family Album repeat would allow them to do just that.

Mind you I think it would have millions of viewers racing in the other direction from ITV1. However, an old TV Burp with shows that have long since died is absolutely desperate. Mind you a Bad Girls re run wouldn't bother me as I used to enjoy a night with Jim Fenner and the girls.
If you really want to have a dig at dear old Corrie, Charnham, just mention its ratings tend to go up if the bingos are closed. I once made a not too tactful joke when someone mentioned what happened to High Road and I commented most of its audience are in the local cemetery so it was cancelled as most of its viewers were brown bread,

Oh happy new year, Charnham, anyway I did read some research about Coronation St from Broadcast magazine in 1987, which stated how popular it was by region. AIRC it was Granada( naturally), Border( the west Cumbrian side is like Lancashire), Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, Ulster( ITV is always stronger than the BBC here), STV, Central, HTV Wales, Anglia, HTV West, Thames, TSW, Channel, TVS( limited appeal in the far South).

Perhaps that might give them ideas for a new gameshow - Celebrity Barrel Scraping.

Hosted by Philip Schofield....

IMO Torchwood wasn't a flop, certainly it wasn't as good s season 3 in terms of quality or viewers, but it had better viewing figures than the 1st and 2nd series, and was as good as both those series.

I put Channel 5 as my least favourite channel yesterday, however tonight I had a solid 4 hours of Channel 5- World's Strongest Man followed by The Greatest Magic Tricks.

Was a good couple of shows for those staying in on NYE with the family.

Anyway, have a good new years and see you in 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! I wish Channel 5 would drop the channel bit from the ads as it's not needed, just the 5 would be fine.
