I didn't know until very recently that Madness' It Must Be Love was a cover of a Labi Siffre song, I was very surprised at that.
Look out for Labi in the video, most obviously at 3.21

It took me a while to find out that Make You Feel My Love by Adele was a cover.

Girl with one eye from Florence and the Machine's first album. I was really shocked to hear that it was written by another band, the name escapes me. Gutted to find out it wasn't actually about a lesbian experience...
The Ludes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hbU9RCfMtE:-) And I think Flo went out with one of Ludes

Most people think that 'Sailing' by Rod Stewart is the original. Not so, it was originally written and recorded by the The Sutherland Brothers

I remember when Will Young performed Evergreen for the first time on Pop Idol and I was singing along, my mam asked me how I knew it and I told her it was on my Westlife album

I was quite surprised to learn that a Macc Lads song called 'Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight' was originally recorded by Fleetwood Mac of all people! Plus I didn't know that quite a few bands have covered it before and since The Macc Lads version. I think it was on this forum that it came to my attention.
