Not sure if this merits a thread of its own so apologies if it's been mentioned already but here goes:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...sha-Dixon.html

I realise it's from the Daily Wail but apparently Alesha will say on the Graham Norton show tonight that Jason has no hope of winning the final. I'll be watching to see exactly what she says, but has she opened her gob once too often? Surely a judge shouldn't be allowed to make such biased comments?

Perhaps he gave her some drinkies beforehand after seeing her on Alan Carr. I will be voting for Jason because I think he's great!

Allegedly...
from The Daily Fail...
I rest my case.

Shouldn't you vote on who you want to win though? Not because somebody said something...? I'm just glad there are three worthy finalists.

Given most of the polls I have seen she may well be right. He does seem to be very clearly third and trailing badly. Thought it was interesting that on ITT Harry's supporter was wearing a blue rosette, Chelsee's was wearing red and Toby Anstis was wearing yellow. Hmmmm!

Oh don't get me wrong, I think he's great too and deserves to win, but I don't usually vote at all. However, I may just do so this time because I think he has come in for a lot of unfair criticism which has nothing to do with his dancing ability. And as I said before, I will force myself to watch the Graham Norton show just to find out what is actually said - which may prompt me to sling a few extra votes Jason's way!

Then I'm hoping for the results following last night's by-election although the turnout might be higher!

Having lived wiith the policy of never making a decision based on anything in the DM I will wait until I watch the programme to see what she actually said!

And then to be fair even if she is wearing a 'don't vote Jason cos Harry is the champion for me' t-shirt I will still vote for Chelsee!

Allegedly, she said that Chelsee and Harry were more popular with the public than Jason and since it is only the public vote that decides the winner, they had more of a chance of winning. How is that an unfair criticism?

'Shock! Horror! Somebody states the bleeding obvious!'

Okay, I take your point that she's a judge on the show, but the judges' marks don't count in the final, so she can't influence the outcome. There may be Daily Fail readers who are so outraged by this that they vote for Jason: equally, there may be people who were going to vote for him, but who, as a result of this, decide to save their money. Swings and roundabouts.

Either way, I very much doubt it will affect the outcome.

It is on the Sun website as well, sounds like both stories came from the same press release. And apparently Arlene was on breakfast TV this morning championing Jason (I didn't see that myself I'm just quoting). I don't think she's wrong to say her opinion, whatever she said, I think it will create more votes for Jason if anything, but I can see that it's tough on his morale just before the final. A lot of people who remember Jason fondly from Neighbours but don't watch SCD might be tempted to watch the final and vote, if they see the papers and Daybreak and feel he's the unfairly treated underdog. I don't think it will be enough to beat Harry but it could help Jason take second place over Chelsee.

Oh dear, what have I started, haha (smilies not working as usual)
As Dom Littlewood said about Lilia, "I feel a right t*t now" for opening a thread based on a knee-jerk reaction. Some of the replies have made me laugh so much, even if it is at my expense. However, I'll still be rooting for Jason, you never know what could happen!

If you go in looking for fault you will truly find it.

Ermm, no I won't. I'm perfectly capable of making a balanced judgment thank you very much, even if my initial reaction was wrong (see previous post).

I've been a Jason supporter from the start.

Of all the dances this season - I have loved his the best.
And I love Kristinas choreography.

I cant see them winning over Harry or Chelsea because they do seem to be more popular with the public - which again makes it more of a popularity contest than a dancing one.

For me, Jason and Kristina have danced the best throughout the show. My vote will be going to them.

This might serve to galvanise Jace's supporters or lovers of the underdog to vote for him.

It's probably the only he chance he has of winning given the voting demographic.

I think you are doing Harry and Chelsee a disservice, whilst I don't know about Chelsee's fanbase, obviously I know there will be the McFly one, but I am sure Jason Donovan has a good fanbase, I am a Jason fan, saw him in concert! But he's not my fave in Strictly.

I am not a McFly fan and had never heard of Chelsee before. But Jason's dancing generally doesn't do anything for me, and I just love watching Harry and Chelsee dance. I think Harry and Chelsee are more talented dancers.

The final will be great, all 3 are deserved finalists.

I'd argue that Harry and Chelsee are both better dancers than Jason, so this is definitely not a clear-cut popularity wins over dancing year, in fact it's the total opposite!

As for Alesha's comment, she is basically just stating the obvious - Jason's been in the bottom two, on a week when he scored highly with the judges, Harry and Chelsee haven't even when lower down the judges leaderboard. It doesn't take a genius to work out as a consequence that Harry and Chelsee are getting the votes.

Just wish they would replace Alesha with Karen Hardy who can give a proper critique of the dances and won't be staggering around talk shows trying to compensate for her lack of talent by being loud and brash.

I'm not even sure what "the voting demographic" or "the viewing demographic" actually look like - or how the two things might be connected. Is there any information out there on this from past series? Not that you could rely on this either especially it if were changeable! And you can't glean anything by bottom twos either necessarily, after all, Alesha was in the bottom two at least once, and still won.

I'd be very surprised if Jason beat either Chelsee or Harry for second place (more likely Chelsee) because of the point made above - if Jason can't get the vote despite being third out of six on the leader board then he won't win. Harry managed to escape the bottom two entirely despite coming lower than Jason that week, and even that was because I personally think they undermarked Harry's rumba and overmarked Jason's American Smooth.

Fair play to Alesha for having an opinion on the show she's a part of - it's like Louis on X Factor constantly championing Amelia and Janet. Just because they're judges doesn't mean that they can't have personal preferences.

Why is stating the truth biased? (that is if she even said that...)

Alesha knows for an absolute fact does she; that Harry & Chelsee are more popular with the public? Jason was in the bottom 2 once. So was Alesha and she still went on to win. If the story is true, Alesha is very unprofessional . A judge on SCD should keep what can only be her opinion to herself.

Exactly. The article quotes her as saying she thinks it's between Chelsee and Harry, but absolutely nothing is quoted about Alesha's thoughts on Jason's chances. Typical DF trying to whip things up with a headline.

Maybe she does - just because voting percentages aren't released to the public doesn't mean that the judges don't know them. Her position as a judge doesn't nullify her right to an opinion, especially when she is stating the blatently obvious...

She may know it for an absolute fact, yes. Do you think the judges are not given the voting figures? I think they are and they manipulate their scores accordingly to get their favourites as far as they can.
