Whilst she may be right i think its very unprofessional for a judge to say beforehand, that one of the final 3 has no chance of winning even if she thinks that's the case.

Her saying that may influence voters to swing towards Chelsea and Harry even before they have danced.

Also those comments are real as they are taken from the Greame Norton show.

Harry managed to escape the bottom two entirely despite coming lower than Jason that week, and even that was because I personally think they undermarked Harry's rumba and overmarked Jason's American Smooth.

Fair play to Alesha for having an opinion on the show she's a part of - it's like Louis on X Factor constantly championing Amelia and Janet. Just because they're judges doesn't mean that they can't have personal preferences.”

Well that's why Louis is a rubbish judge. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but i think its a bit wrong to say a contestant has no chance of winning before the final has even begun. Maybe you prefer that type of judge but i don't.

Alesha always favored Harry and Chelsea anyway so it's no surprise.

Or, as in the OP case, it may swing votes towards Jason.

We do not know her exact comments as this episode has not yet aired.

You don't actually know if the judges see any voting figures, so that is pure speculation. I seem to remember Arlene was criticised and quite rightly so, for airing her views on contestants in the media. I'm glad the other judges don't run around airing their views on who they think will win etc. They and people like Zoe, Claudia and Tess keep their views to themselves and therefore remain impartial and professional.

Anyway, we don't actually know what she said yet. So we are also speculating but then we're not involved with SCD!

If she said what she is alleged to have said why didn't she give the tactful and non comittal answer of I really can't call it.

That would have been the sensible thing to do.

I hope Jason wins now. I really do. It might percolate that you don't drop any clues with regards to the public vote

We might suspect the judges try and 'fix' things sometimes and have favourites. Alesha certainly loves Harry. If Alesha does know voing figures and then goes mouthing off on a TV prog to be shown the night before the final, that's appalling .

And another rwason why she should leave at the end of the series. At the very least it is unprofessional conduct.

Oh crikey she is on ITT tonight- thankfully tthere are the ultra professional Karen and Ian too. If she listens yto them she might learn something

For me, Jason and Kristina have danced the best throughout the show. My vote will be going to them. ”

She might have thought it was okay to speak because the judges have no say tomorrow night, now that it is down to public vote only.

I'll wait until I see the show before making any kind of judgement.

I haven't seen the show so don't know what she had said but to say anything about Jason not winning is very unprofessional as a judge. Being a judge means being impartial and it does matter even if she is not going to stick another 10 paddle up tomorrow - she should have said "no comment" or "I really can't call this one".

Exactly that was my point. I think if those comments are true it's a bit unfair.

I remember when Alicia Keys was on the x factor, and she said she didn't want to comment on her favorites as she didn't want to influence the public vote.

My point as well

I bet the producers of SCD will be begging those of GN to edit the comments out of the show. I hope they don't as it will push Jason's fans into voting like mad for him

Jason deserves to win. Harry has been favoured by Alesha throughout(does she fancy him or something). I know Arlene could be terrible at times but at least she had the guts to mark people down if they deserved to be marked down. She marked Mark, Matt, James down when they messed up and she used to drool over him.

And it is time Alesha went if she can't be trusted to keep her trap shut on a tv show she has no business being a judge

Dictionary for Alesha for Xmas please so she can look at the definition for the word judge

I realise it's from the Daily Wail but apparently Alesha will say on the Graham Norton show tonight that Jason has no hope of winning the final. I'll be watching to see exactly what she says, but has she opened her gob once too often? Surely a judge shouldn't be allowed to make such biased comments?”

I read that and consider it most unprofessional of Alesha - I've voted solely for Chelsee and Jason since Russell went out and will do so again on Saturday, in the hope that they are our two finalists.

Which is why she has no business being a judge on the show. Her bias is horrific. I really hope Jason wins and is in the final two with Chelsee

I know it is not Harry's fault that Alesha has foot in mouth syndrome but I don't want him to win

The actual quote they've lifted isn't any worse than the judges saying repeatedly in the run up to the Series 7 final that Chris was the public's favourite.

Do two wrongs make a right?

In Chris's case wa the papers who leaked out he was the public favourite. This year there have been no leaks from the rags(as far as I am aware)

Which makes Alesha's latest faux pas even worse- as she has shot her mouth off....again

And how embarrassing for the producers that she has let the cat out of the bag

Honestly if you want to vote to support Jason go ahead, it's your prerogative and you have all the right to do so, but don't use this as some sort of a crusade to get others to vote for Jason as well. People will vote for whoever they like the most on the actual final.

It's a shame that someone won't get voted for because of their pro partner. I will be voting for the celeb dancer I have enjoyed the most during the series. That is Harry for me. But I will be really pleased if Chelsee wins also.

"Wrong" in what sense? I can just about see it being "wrong" in the sense that the show always carves out storylines where certain people get better focus than others (like them all yelling about how FUNNY Russell was going to be from the second he turned up, and selling that cannon rubbish as the most hilarious and memorable moment in Strictly history when it got him eliminated), and that's arguably unfair when they all should be on a level playing field. It does feel to me though like it's her honest opinion rather than something she's been sent out to sell, so I'd argue not, but you have to leave the possibility open.

Wrong in any sort of sense of making her unsuitable for her role on the show? No. She's not insulting anyone, or demonstrating personal bias, or anything that would make her unsuitable for the post. She's being asked her opinion of how the public are likely to vote, in a BBC promoted interview, to promote the final, and she's doing it, in an entertaining way designed to grab headlines. That's very much, I would imagine, what she was sent in there to do, and therefore she's actually being very professional. As indeed she was drinking on a show where the host offered her a drink, as much as people got their pants in a bunch about that as well.

Where in the posters comments did she exhort others to vote for Jason?

But isn't it unprofessional that she has let slip how the public are voting. All she had to do is say something like I really can't call it as they are so good. That would have been the smart answer

She's right though, he's not as good as the other two. And had he not done such a good Argentine Tango it would probably have been Holly in the final and not him.
footygirl
16-12-2011
But that is purely her opinion. And goodness knows she has overmarked Harry this year. Chelsee too. So how can she be taken seriously as a judge when she has shown bias
Mystical123
16-12-2011
Whether or not you think Alesha's overmarked people is irrelevant - that's entirely her subjective view of the dance as she sees it, same for all the others judges. I think she's generally marked Chelsee and Harry spot on and overmarked Jason, but that doesn't have me crying for her removal as a judge.

I still don't see what the problem with her remark is - she's entitled to an opinion same as everyone else, judge or not, and what she said was so obviously true in comparison to the other finalists always avoiding the bottom two no matter where they were on the leaderboard.
