Yes, I'm clearly in the presence of great intellect whilst surrounded by fans of a kids' TV show. She's turned in more top-notch performances during her EastEnders stint alone than many accomplished television actresses achieve in their entire careers. She's worthy of far more than a secondary role in such frippery. Karen Gillan's better off out of it, too. But on the bright side, that girl who played Tracy Beaker is probably free.

people who call doctor who a kids show.

I don't think Lacey would be the absolute worst choice..... let's just hope they don't opt for someone like Helen Flanagan. That really would be the pits.

I'd like to see someone like Sheridan Smith or Kathryn Drysdale take on the role.

im sorry soap fans.....but this has got my beef up and ive started a thread in the cult forum to bring in the troops! seriously doctor who is a instituion and much more special and meaningful than just a soap if you forgive my snobbery! and that guy or girl who slagged off doctor who fans intellect! TROLL ALERT! obvious! doctor who is a show for people of high intellect and is not a, i repeat NOT, a kids show, so its obvious you my friend with the username "since yesterday" is a TROLL!

I agree that Matt Smith couldn't act his way out of a paper bag!

In fact the paper bag would have more personality.

It's probably the biggest female role on British Television. How is that beneath her?

Doctor Who isn't a kid's show. The last series' main complaint from people was that it wasn't child friendly enough...

She is nowhere near talented enough.

Unless the Dr Who role requires her to shout & scream, whilst continually being pissed off, I doubt she'd be any good at it anyway.

Makes me chuckle how some think this average actress is the greatest thing since sliced bread, on the back of a few ten-a-penny soap "awards" that aren't worth jack.

That'll be why she's never been off our screens since leaving EE of course.

I expect the Hollywood moguls are beating a path to her door as we speak.

I don't watch Eastenders, but from what i've seen of her she seems like she'd be a wonderful companion. =] I view the role of companion as a great honour, no way is it beneath her!

Well I'm going to try and be sensible and say that I loved Lacey in Eastenders, and think she's a great actress. I also think that she's probably versatile enough to be a wonderful Doctor Who companion.

If you like Doctor Who and if you don't, fair enough. But to suggest that a national institution like DW is "garbage" and a "kids show" and that a main role in it is "beneath" just another very good soap actress is stupid. I love DW, but I can fully understand why others don't. It's when people put their opinions as fact that I dislike - you can dislike something without resorting to calling it "garbage" just because God forbid you don't like it.

Honestly it's like a bloody playground on here.

Yes, I'm sure the likes of Helen Mirren and Julie Walters would kill for it.

I suppose to really impress in kids' TV, you need to be a wiz with sticky back plastic, toilet rolls and washing up liquid bottles.

From the few episodes I've endured over the years, that seems to be a reasonably accurate summary of the role.

Yet here you are deeming them worthy of posting about, anyway.

So soap awards aren't reputable, but the stature of an actress should be measured by the amount of work she does rather than the quality?

With so many archaic reference points, I had to keep checking we weren't discussing Downton Abbey.
