I think it should be made clear that the judges' scores are related to the stage of the competition and expectations about what the standard should be for that stage so, for example, an 8 on weeks 1 & 2 might translate to a 6 later on in the competition.

High scores early on made it difficult for me to take the rest of the competition seriously.

"Thanks for contacting us regarding ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on BBC One.

We’re sorry to note you feel the studio audience are being staged managed to cheer and scream during each show, which is ruining your enjoyment of the series.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is a live show for which many thousands of people apply for tickets. The lucky ones that do make it into the audience are inevitably very excited to be there and this comes across by their reactions. We would like to assure you that we in no way add to this and it certainly isn’t staged.

I hope this information is helpful and we've registered your comments on our audience log for the benefit of programme makers, commissioning executives, and senior management within the BBC. The audience logs are important documents that can help shape future decisions and also ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are made available to BBC staff across the Corporation.

Thanks again for contacting us."

Do they think I'm stupid!!!!!!”

They think I'm stupid too, fret not
Here's mine.
Thank you for contacting us regarding ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ broadcast on the 3 December 2011.

I understand that you feel that the audience is being encouraged to cheer and scream during the programme.

We appreciate your concerns and as we’re sure you’re aware, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ is a live show for which many thousands of people apply for tickets.

The lucky ones that do make it into the audience are inevitably very excited to be there and this comes across by their reactions. We would like to assure you that we in no way add to this and it certainly isn’t staged.

Nevertheless, please be assured your complaint will be added to our audience log, a daily report of audience feedback that's made available to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.

Still amused by 'isn't staged' remark.
Such a porky pie that is.
Who is doing the clapping on this one

I've mentioned before the inclusion of the word "log" in a response to a complaint. This I guess is an attempt to make the complainant feel that "something is being done about it."
In fact, for all the effect such numbers of complaints have I'd suggest they might has well have used the word "bin" instead.

Mind you "logs" have that "Christmassy feel" they probably have a good burn up of them over the holidays.

The BBC audience log actually exists. It is an online record of all complaints received, arranged according to category, and accessible by most BBC employees. It is typically read as entertainment during lunch breaks. Popbitch used to print a selection every week for laughs and it truly was the most hilarious part of their mailout.

Of course they do my dear. The BBC think everyone is stupid.
Unfortunately, in 90% of cases they are right. That's why they increasingly dumb down the programme content. There are parts of SCD which make the Teletubbies seem positively intellectual. If the BBC were a newspaper it would be The Sun.
Biggest sales .. dumbest buyers!!
That's life nowadays.
But at least it's put dancing back on the map .. not that it's ever been off the map for experienced latin and ballroom dancers.

Absolutely. But don't blame them - they are told to get up repeatedly by the floor managers and by Bruce
