The press release with the financial figures summaries Sky's plans for 2012
Broadband

We’ll extend our network footprint from 82% today to 88% of the UK by the end of 2013
We will launch our free WiFi service to Sky Broadband Unlimited customers in April, giving seamless access to our content on the move in 10,000 locations across the UK
From April we will extend our broadband line-up by adding a new fibre product for customers who want higher speeds. For £20 per month, customers will be able to access download speeds of up to 40Mb, with no usage caps and can pre-register their interest from today. Using BT’s infrastructure, our fibre product will initially be available to just under 30% of UK households, with coverage set to grow over time.
Sky Go
We will launch on the Android platform in February. We also plan to expand the channel line-up on our Sky Go mobile service, starting with the addition of Sky Atlantic, closely followed by Sky 1, Sky Living and Sky Sports F1.

Sky Anytime +
We plan to increase distribution to all customers with a Sky+HD box, irrespective of their Internet Service Provider. From today, customers will be able to access archive content from ITV. Seven day catch-up will join the service later this year with the addition of the BBC iPlayer and more ITV content.

zeebox
Launching in the first half of 2012, Sky and zeebox will offer connecting with friends around TV shows, finding more information about what's on TV, and buying products relating to their favourite programmes. From later this year, Sky customers will also be able to use a zeebox powered Sky app to access their Sky+ box on the move, so they can manage their Sky+ recording remotely, as well as using their iPhone or iPad as a remote control for their Sky box, creating a comprehensive and fully integrated companion TV experience.

New internet pay TV service
A new service aimed at the 13 million UK households who don’t currently subscribe to pay TV. Launching in the first half of calendar 2012, the service will be a new way to watch our content via broadband connected devices - on a PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone, games console or connected TV. It will offer instant access to Sky Movies on demand, with no dish and no contract, and customers will be able to pay monthly or rent a movie on a simple pay-as-you-go basis. The service will start by offering movies, but will soon expand to offer sport and entertainment as well.

no, just like the current £7.50 for broadband doesn't include line rental.

They have nothing to gain from it, and lots to lose.

Anyone paying £10(.25) a month just for the recording features - all that revenue would vanish overnight.

Anyone who pays the minimum £20, but won't cancel because they want the recording feature, and won't pay £10 for it, and woudl rather pay £20 and have some channels, they would also be able to cancel, more lost revenue.
Very good point - and exactly the reason why I'm hesitating over further downgrading or cancelling my basic Sky package. I want an easy to use PVR much more than the channels locked to the Sky platform. I could use my Freesat recorder/PVR but it's not as good or easy to use as the Sky+ HD box, so I am hoping that YouView will soon meet my needs and enable me to cancel Sky altogether. Sky need to watch their backs as alternative PVRs pop up more and more.

So... for me and people like me, the primary purpose of the Sky+ HD box is its PVR/recording function (European Court and HMRC take note )

It's apparently 40Mbps down and 2Mbps up, so people like me who already have good speeds on Sky BB (18/1) you will get a speed doubling for more than double the cost plus a £50 installation fee. Not a good deal by Sky's usual standards (except for some torrent users).

The equivalent BT product currently offers 10Mbps upload for a similar unlimited FTTC + phone price (and is not locked to TV like the Sky product).

It's not HD though. It was called the sky hd guide but wasn't in hd. The new one is in HD and is way better than the current epg with a few subtle tweaks to it too.
Is this the guide built in HTML5 and Java then?

I agree the up at 2Mb, is too low; should be 10Mb.

d'@ve - you dont need to take the TV, CEO confirmed that in the Q&A
