I liked the original film.

Aside from Stallone's hilarious codpiece and "I knew you'd say that" stupid catchphase, it was a decent movie.

Karl Urban denies his Dredd will be mean and moody....

The only time Ol' Stony Face might smile like that is if he had just sent some stookie dealer to the Iso-Cubes for 25. Then again, maybe not.

I agree...
I quite like the movie as well as it happens although I struggled with the whole "taking his helmet off" thing. Given that Dredd is the embodiment of an idea. I didn't get full on anal about it tho'
I'm looking forward to seeing the new version.

Another +1 for Mean Machine. As a whole the film wasn't that bad, not perfect but they'd never be able to do a 'perfect' Dredd film imo.

I suggest the OP a) Turns off his computer and goes outside b) deletes photoshop or promises to never use any of the filters ever again

Here is an altered version of the uniform I did next to the version in the new film:

If a fully mounted eagle shoulder pad is not practical in a live action film, I think the version on the left would be an acceptable compromise.

This song would be wonderful over the end credits of the film.

The Cult - Rain (12 inch version):

"Here comes the rain...

Here comes Judge Dredd"

Here is my revised version of the uniform:

We've yet to see the Karl Urban uniform in motion - an actual scene from the trailer - but I think the above image would have been a better compromise version.

All your mock-ups make Dredd look like a gimp in fetish gear.

I much prefer the practical body armour they're using in the actual film. It has a rough "used future" look to it.

I changed the uniform image. Removed the stubble, made the lips thinner (Urban has pouty lips) and added some more colour to the pads.

Is that from the film or is it that actor that 2000AD have been using for years to get 'live action' pictures of Dredd??

It's an altered Karl Urban with thinner lips and longer chin. That face doesn't exist as a real face, if you see what I mean. I may host one more variation on that image in the near future.

So,are you suggesting they should've got Rodney from Only Fools 'N Horses to play him then?

Not bad, although I think Urban's unshaven look isn't keeping in with the self-discipline of Dredd.

Based on some of the photos, Urban's Dredd looks more like a bike courier with more padding than a futuristic street Judge! A trailer will prove if he really does look like a 20th century biker with some extra padding. I hope he looks a bit more futuristic. The leaked photos of the lawmaster bike and other vehicles didn't really shout out sci-fi. It looked more like something from the 1970s.

The last image is a fan poster. Not an official film poster.

Have you started to photoshop these new images to make Dredd look like he's wearing a rubber gimpsuit yet?

Come to think of it, will you be investing in CGI software so you can make a fan edit of the film with rubber gimpsuits in every frame?

If anyone is interested, if you go to the movie section and click the new Dredd photos thread, I provide clear evidence to show one of the new Urban Dredd photos is fake - it's been photoshopped to increase his chin. Hand on heart, it's not my photoshop. You can Google the image to see the fake chin image!
