I know everyone is supposed to hate them. They're not the most artistic group, but they have some catchy songs. They are a guilty pleasure for me.

One BIG NAY! I hate the production and as soon as i hear a NIckleback song i really do feel sick. It's like typical 80s music over-produced.

I know I should dislike them but I don't. They are a guilty pleasure of mine and I would be willing to bet it is the same for most of the naysayers.

this. don't understand the hate for them, they make good music and are one of the most successful rock bands worldwide, I love them and don't care about the haters

I love Rammstein, but I "understand" that people would hate them too. A lot of people think Nickleback are shit, simple as that. Doesn't need much more analysis than that.

What i don't undertand is everyone was really into Nickelback in 2001/02 with the Silver Side Up album being number one for a few weeks and a few top 10 singles then all of a sudden there is a backlash. I know the argument is they are too commercial sounding or whatever but i think they are are easy target like a lazy punchline.
Also i wouldn't describe myself as a fan but agree they do have some good tracks and are a lot better than other bands just like other bands are better than them. It doesn't make any difference.

I like How You Remind Me but it's the only decent thing they've ever produced. Though We Stand Together isn't terrible actually but Rockstar is just yuck

Nay since How You Remind Me. Such verbose, verbally self-indulgent and incommodious American OAR drivel.

Nay, although there is far worse out there. They are unashamedly commercial pop/rock with little creativity designed to sell out stadiums, so ultimately it depends on whether or not that is what you're into. Personally it's not for me, although they do have a few catchy songs and I think 'How You Remind Me' was a great single, I can think of bands that deserve more hatred than Nickelback. They may be overproduced and formulaic, but they do what they do well and they don't pretend to be musical geniuses.

Even when 'Silver Side Up' came out they were criticised by the rock crowd for being too commercial etc., I remember Kerrang! magazine especially gave them consistently bad reviews. Also, they did become a lot more poppy and stadium-friendly after that album which may not have pleased those who liked their grungier early albums. There was a big deal about 'Someday' being pretty much a rewrite of 'How You Remind Me' as well, a file of the two songs played simultaneously spread over the internet and showed that in terms of structure they were virtually identical, hence the criticisms of them being formulaic and too radio-friendly.

Yay and Nay. They have some decent, catchy songs but they also have some of the shittiest songs I've ever heard. Ever.
