eh?... harry nilsson nailed that track, although badfingers was good... mariah destroyed it, a perfect example of over singing, that wasnt emotive, it was just a horrible noise....sorry .

I do too. Leona's version makes me cry, whereas as much as I love Snow Patrol, their verson didn't.

I think Leona has as much chance catching the emotion in a song as I have catching a grain of dust with a fishermans net.
She's never covered a song she hasn't killed.
If songs were people she'd have got the chair a long time ago.

Prefer the Snow Patrol version seems much more genuine. Also I can't stand dramatic, overblown choir comes in at the last minute , over the top singing which is what Leona often partakes in.

I love Leona's version. Snow Patrols ones is boring to me, doesn't go anywhere. Not saying every song has to though. I feel more emotion from Leona.

I do like Snow Patrol, but Leona's version gives me major goosebumps, love her version. Fair play to Snow Patrol for writing the track though. Music is different things to different people. To me, Leona always shows emotion in her singing. Each to their own. So, if I had to choose, I would choose Leona.

If someone said I had two choices of things to listen to for the rest of my life:

Leona Lewis's butchering of Run

or this

I'd choose the second.

That's not a "version". That is the song. Leona Lewis' cover was a "version".

depends what context you put killed it ?, in the past MUSICIANS refered to killed it as destroyed it now it seems killed it means Nailed it ? got it right ? whichever way Leona is a real professional and makes relatively boring songs F****ng amazing and helps otherwise average arists sell loadsa tracks !

Oh no I definitely meant killed as in death, as in not a song she can't suck the life out off, and not in a way that would compliment her in anyway shape or form.

Ha ha, You are right though, those 'otherwise average artists' like Oasis, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails and Snow Patrol needed all the help they could have gotten to flog a few records. People would never have heard of them if Leona hadn't stood motionless and warbled all over their songs. Really she's doing them a favour....

How can you call Johnny Cash (Yes I know he didn't actually perform the original either, but his version is the seminal one rather like Buckley's Hallelujah) average. The man is a legend in every sense of the word. Leona has talent but her legacy is miniscule compared to the Man in Black. Calling him average is just ignorant.

I like Oasis and Snow Patrol but I can understand people not thinking they're all that... But Cash, whether you like him or not, has an undeniable legacy.

I hate the Leona Lewis version, it just sucks the life out of a beautiful song. It's the Westlife/X Factor song by numbers way of doing a song, start quietly with no accompaniment, sing softly, build and then at key change, add choir, screeching and crashing music and call it emotion.

Snow Patrol's version is boring. It has no life, Leona lights up.

Snow Patrol kick Leona's over the top wailing, warbling and faux-emotion right out the park.

Gary's voice makes me cry from pure emotion.

Leona's makes me cry out of disgust.

it's like Mariah massacring 'Without You' - Nilsson nailed that

well truth is
music is all subjective and one persons opinion does not make thier opinion fact except to them
each is entitled to thier own opinion and also the right not to listen if they do not like what they hear
the live lounge version in my opinion was great

Lol no one cares for the original of "Without you" anymore. Mariah owned it.

Everyone is entitled to like or dislike a song, it's up to the individual, tastes vary, thank God.

But, speaking as a writer, I know who understands a song more, no one understands what I write as much as I do, and even though my wife is the singer in my band and knows me like no other person, I still have to explain the deeper levels tot he lyrics. It's the same with every song.

So, as you can imagine, for me, Snow Patrol is the only way to hear that song

Lol indeed. Anyone with a knowledge of music beyond the last 10 years knows which version to care for (HINT - it's not the wailing needy diva )
