"You're through.."

*cry*

Everything she seems to cry about. I think I counted three times in that show, how many over the series do you think we will make it to?

I don't see how you can criticise anyone for becoming emotional, particularly Verity with her history.

Hasnt Simon learned his lesson with Michelle? There is nothing special about Verity or her voice. I think we can expect lots of tears week after week if she lasts longer than next week. Mind you, Rowetta looks like she could give Verity plenty of competition in the crying stakes. Its a good job she is one of my favourites.

Totally agree - I even became emotional when she had heard that got through. I like her but to criticise her for being emotional is silly

She keeps going on about how people tell her she has a special voice and that's why she should go through. She thinks she is the bees knees really, would you really just enter this because of your 'special voice.' She has been offered two record deals in the past, she knows that record companies like her and now she is just hitting them where it hurts.

Verity has had the confidence knocked out of her, but she will have had a boost from getting into the final. I don't think we will see her crying too much from now on. Rowetta is the one whose emotions are out of control.

It's bizarre....a lot of them seem to be crying....god...it's only like their dream is coming true....they should get some perspective.....

From what's been aired of Verity so far...I am really shocked that she's made it this far.

Jings....how many people criticise singers for being karaoke or pub singers? Verity's like the auntie that gets pulled out at a family party for a tune or two.

I think she's shockingly awful. This is the most bizarre I have ever seen Simon. And to choose her over Lloyd? Madness.

Dont usually agree with you ZipGypsy but I totally agree with you about Verity. I think the public would have been far more likely to take Lloyd to their hearts than Verity. Simon has stated in the NOTW today that Verity could be the Peoples Champion but Rowetta is his favourite to win. I think he has lost the plot with Verity. I really do.

I predict Verity will be gone in the first couple of weeks (hopefully!!)

I sat in shocked horror when I realised he'd chosen her over Lloyd.

I ALWAYS! agree with my mate Zip and she's absolutely right about Verity and the auntie at the family party quip "people's champion?"...my ar*e!
To let Lloyd go was IMO really daft,Mrs PIV reckons that Verity has been popping over to Chez Cowell to do a "bit of dusting.."
Something has blinded SC to the the fact that "Auntie Vee" is a grade 1 phoney!!(just this old Pop Idol Veteran's opinion of course.
I'm sure the GBP aren't as daft as Cowell thinks we are...please hit the phonelines and boot the faker out....(rant over...normal(?)service is to be resumed.)

I think that Verity will blossom during the competition - she got held back in her career by her husband who's she is now divorced from and this is her last chance - although I liked the 2 guys that Simon let go I think they still have a chance to do something with their careers

I do think that half the appeal of this show is the personal stories and for that I quite like Verity. What I don't understand though is why Simon is such a champion of her. He would usually be so dismissive of her type of singing. It will be interesting to see how she fares on the live show next week.

I agree that Simon has championed Verity so far and put her ahead of much better talent. However, he’s managed to put her through with a guaranteed caveat ‘I think the public will like her’. He’s basically said that, if it were down to his personal preference, Lloyd would have gone through, but Verity is his little experiment to see if the public will overlook her lesser abilities and vote out of sympathy (I’m not saying she’s entirely untalented, but you can’t really compare her to someone like Rowetta). I predict her being close to elimination in Week 1, and Simon will shrug and say ‘Well, I thought the public might like her, but obviously not. But hey, I didn’t really want her anyway’.

Personally speaking, I have very little sympathy for her. OK, she may have had a rubbish marriage and this stopped her from pursuing her career, but Rowetta has had a tough old life too (teen mother, abusive husband, backing singer for the maddest band in Manchester etc). I'll certainly be voting on talent alone, and on that basis, she won't get a single vote from me.

Why can't people just give her a chance rather than diving in and slagging her off, beacause she got voted in and your favourite didn't?? If she's been offered record contracts in the past then she must have a half decent voice and if she hasn't then she'll be gone - Jeez

i think there were two reasons Simon picked Verity over Lloyd

1. That this is a contest between the judges and Simon knows the GBP like a sob story ( personally I think he got it wrong this time though)

2. I think he thought that as there were no upper age limit, for a wider range of audience, he should have someone alot older in that top 3

What's really funny is that The Weather Girls really cry quite a bit and get all emotional...yet no-one mentions it. This is because they do it in a cooler happier way...they show that it means a lot..but not that they would mope around in their house for ages if they didnt get through. Verity just does it in a "look at me..I've supposedly had a lot of ups and downs in my life" kind of way. This has the effect of "aah" for some people... but also "come on girl get a grip" on others.

I'm still waiting for some kind of proof of these "snatched away record contracts"call me a great big old cynical PIV but I don't believe a single word of her "backing story".
Look how quickly Ro's low life abuser husband broke cover for a few sheckles(N.O.T.W.)..so,where is this "controlling husband" of Verity's,and where are the record companies she was going to sign for eh?Record companies NEVER give up good free publicity, like I said before the story is IMO "a crock of whatsit"
IMO Cowell picked her for her awww factor not her X Factor, and he stupidly thinks the GBP will feel sorry for her,and then ride to her rescue and make him a few quid in phone calls too...IMHO he's dead wrong!

As far as I'm concerned old Auntie Vee can go take her "special voice" and botoxed forehead and disappear, sharpish.

At least the lovely Rowetta's life is an ever open book, what you see is what you get...flawed but FABULOUS.XXXXXX
Go Ro.

And don't forget those contracts were offered to her, if they were, when she was young and pretty - and the records think anyone pretty with an average voice will sell.

She's dull, nothing special about her voice and has been put through when someone else could have been put through.
