All good finalists, all deserved to be there. Thought Jason possibly deserved to make the final two but nor to win. Had money on Chelsee, lost out on 25 quid when she didn't win - BOO ! Actually I think that if any of Harry, Chelsee, Jason (or Holly) had won we would have had a worthy winner with good dancing ability - thankfully not another Chris Hollins !

On just yesterdays show, probably yes, Chelsee didn't cope with her nerves as well as I had hoped in the first part of yesterdays final.
But if we're talking generally and add up all the weeks of dancing for who should have been dancing those last two dances in the second part of the final then (for me) Harry and Chelsee would have been the best two. I think overall Chelsee has danced better than Jason this series so I think it would have been a shame if she hadn't been able to do those two final performances. I agree that Jason was good yesterday though, and it's a shame that they couldn't all have done the four dances each and then there just be a vote off of the third couple, then maybe a Pro dance, and then the final two vote off (with the winner). But alas, not enough time in the show for this.

If he had made the final two was Jason's new dance the Salsa? What would have been his highest scoring one?
Can't agree. Jason was great in the first couple of weeks or so but had some middling weeks after that. I just think Chelsee's jive and how much she improved at the end warranted her finishing second. Overall Harry edged it.

Late coming to this as I've been away but for my tuppence worth, Jason & Kristina won the show but Harry & Aliona won the series - if that makes sense?

Given Harry's limited capacity for conveying the emotion of the latin dances, and the major flaw in his ballroom technique, the two best all-round dancers in the competition were in my opinion without question Jason and Chelsee.
But the competitors knew from the start that they were entering a competition which would ultimately be decided primarily by popularity rather than by dancing expertise.

Absolutely! Dance only came into existence in the first place because there are people who enjoy expressing themselves. If a performance really conveys the emotion of the dancer it tends to engage the audience and make it far more enjoyable.
But as the following observation illustrates not everybody sees the same thing -

I simply couldn't disagree more in the case of Chelsee.
Her latin dances in the main stood out for me because her character really shone through - her Samba at Wembley and her Shrek Jive being two obvious examples.
Then as you say there was that Rumba, which Bruno observed she performed "like a movie star". Contrast that with Kara's absolutely outstanding Rumba - exquisite, but passionless.
Even with her Chelsee's ballroom dances, Bruno commented upon her American Smooth "You are literally glowing when you're dancing".
I'm in two minds about whether or not to attend one of the tour shows. I'd love to see Chelsee's Paso or Rumba or American Smooth again, but if the judges carried on where they left off with the scoring it would really spoil it for me.
Does anybody here have an idea of how the scoring will work? Will there be only three judges, or is the format entirely different?

3 judges, marks out of 10, same format as the show except the arena audience can vote, judges score and audience vote combined determine the winner of that show
A month on and reflecting on the final as a one off evening, and the fact I'm currently editing and copying onto disc for future viewing, Ive come round to a view that on the final alone Jason and Kristina deserved to be in the last 2 with Harry because on the performances alone, Jason coped with the pressure of the final better than Chelsee and also I preferred Jason's showdance more than Chelsee's.
(I still didn't like their psycho-like AT though.)

My only problem with Jason's AT is that it seemed woefully light on technical content. But the story-telling was superb for me - an older guy lusting after a young girl, pursuing her, and finally having his way with her.
It's the only AT I've ever seen which conveyed the fire and passion essential to that particular dance - though to be fair there are probably six years where I didn't watch SCD at all.
With regard to your opinion that Chelsee didn't handle the pressure in the final as well as Jason - I've asked a number of people here if they wouldn't mind pointing to a few specific instances in her four dances which illustrate the point. Would you mind doing so please?

fire and passion are not always necessary for the AT, they can be romantic, tender , soulful it is only in Len's mind that they have to have fire and passion

I've just copied the following from the relevant page on the UltimateStrictly web site (thanks, Claire) -
"The judges in Strictly Come Dancing will be looking for fire and passion with the chemistry between the couple being essential, along with both tight hold, loose hold and fast pivots."
Jason did well the first couple of weeks but then lost his mojo. He did well getting to the final. I know some people want to talk about technique and stuff but I just enjoy watching the dances
