amazing how quick it went to number one on iTunes!

Worst Xmas no 1 in years. Donate your 79p direct to the charity people, they will see more of it that way!

Yeah, I was gonna say. This isn't going to be a "chart battle" at all. They'll be #1 with like double the sales of the nearest competition tbh...

People can both donate directly to the charity and buy the song to show their support.

I always knew it would do well but didn't expect it to do this well. I don't see anything challenging it for the Xmas number one.

Yeah, but, Christmas number one is next week, isn't it? Isn't everyone going to rush out and buy Little Mix tomorrow?

Oh. I see you can already buy Little Mix. Oh well. *Anything* is better than something off the X-Factor production line.

Yes this will be biggest and fastest selling single of the year! Crazy really.
There have been better charity singles than this!

I actually think Video Games would have made an interesting Xmas No.1 but oh well.

But I thought Cowell and Co specifically released their singles in order to get the Christmas number one spot. Hence all the f*cebook campaigns. Has this changed, then?

Usually it would be released in the week for the Christmas Number One. But it was only announced a while back after the X Factor had started this year that the Christmas number one would be announced on Christmas Day, rather than today.

Maybe not. Songs which get to #1 so quickly are usually just pre-orders, it may not have the legs to carry on

eg 60,000 pre-orders between 0000-0100 against
10,000 casual buyers in the same timeframe its bound to be #1 then

but say 10am Monday morning it could be down to the same amount of causal buyers.

But who knows/cares?

Good for them. Any song that stops the XF winners single from getting Christmas #1 is fine by me.

Good on them!

However, I can see a surprise contender and this is not Nirvana, Little Mix or the Essex *****. Alex Day with "Forever Yours" is climbing up the charts and is possibly 4th overall with the multiple versions:

I agree with MiresiaVertata. I'm following Alex on twitter and the rate he is climbing up the itunes chart is quite astonishing. I confess i thought it would be a failed attempt but I'm surprised.

I think its unlikely he'll make the top spot but i think he stands a chance at top 10, which itself would be quite remarkable. Sales will just have to keep going through the week.

I'd suggest this thread is more aimed at the Xmas number one.

Who cares it it's xmas number 1. As long as it raises a lot of money, isn't that the point?

These women are truly dispicable, using their husband's military career as a means of getting a bit of exposure and a chart hit. The soldiers get enough exposure and praise as it is, despite the fact that they're fighting a cause which isn't even that worthwhile.

Not really into the Military wives single but wish them good luck. However it'd be good for
LM's career to hold onto the no 1 spot. I really want Stacy Solomon to do well too.

He's a youtuber (Nerimon) and has released 2 solo albums thus far. It's actually quite a good song and not particularly novelty at all!
