Let's hear it for "boring"!

The mian critique of Harry on this forum has nothing at all to do with his superb dancing ability but his "boring" personality. Well if boring equates to being polite, well spoken, modest and unassuming then I'll take "boring" any day!

I think he came across as reserved or unenthusiastic.

Until last night. I came over to the Harry-side. He was brilliant. But I know where a lot of people are coming from with the 'boring'.

Well he's certainly boring considering he's in a band! Wouldn't be considered boring if he was an accountant or similar!

personally, i am all for people who don't feel they need to spill their sob stories, heartaches, lost dogs, elderly relatives, insecurities, vanities, sexual adventures, and sundry other triumphs and disasters all over us. like i care.

He is considered boring because he is a well spoken, articulate, charming, well mannered young man, who doesn't have "attitude".

I shouldn't think that Harry loses much sleep over the sort of people who can only say negative things about him.

Absolutely. Perhaps Harry can make good mannered reserve and clear articulate speech cool again.

I have no issue with people being polite, well mannered, quiet and restrained
he just didn't have very much to say that interested me
to be honest, none of them did really - Chelsee was my fave but I feel the same about her and Jason's verbal diarrhoea got on my nerves too

I don't think it's that different to most years - they are all so media trained now that interviews (and that includes for real A-listers) are pretty dull

that's why someone like Nancy is always good value

Nonsense - Harry is the perfect example of Manners Maketh Man. He never failed to be polite and considerate in both his interviews with Tess and Bruce and in the training room with Aliona.

Where I did find him less than engaging was his inability to 'emote' during a performance. It didn't seem to matter what the routine, catchy latin, passionater latin, romantic VW etc. his facial expression barely changed.

I thought from this aspect his dances last night were quite fortuitous - none of them required him to dance with gay abandon e.g. jive, charleston, salsa, samba etc. Dances in which he was technically excellent but fell short in the performance stakes.

I made the same criticisms of Chelsee earlier in the series. Although always able to portray the joie de vivre of fast latin etc. she clearly found projecting passion or romance more difficult. However I do think she overcame this as witnessed by her paso, rhumba and AS the moods of which she captured superbly.

Actually, on the 'superb dancing' front, he never really got rid of those pigeon toes. Just look at the photos where he was captured in less than flattering poses. I'm surprised they were released!

If he hadnt been a 'hot' male he would have been disregarded like Rachel who was also 'polite, well mannered, well spoken, unnassuming, humble, quiet and restrained' as well as dancing every bit aswell as Harry but was written off as a personality vacum.

Well would people prefer ITT to be like Bill Grundy's interview with the Sex Pistols, with lots of f***ing swear words ? Modern pop stars are much nicer than their forbears and not into drink, drugs, orgies and early death. Also not everyone can be an outstanding personality viz. Lennon, Jagger, Keith Moon etc. Maybe nice is boring but I'll take it over rudeness and reprobate behaviour every time.
