A song for personal profit or one for a good cause? Its not a hard choice. Just because they won X Factor doesn't mean they should get the christmas no.1. It used to mean something before Cowell started buying it!”
By the same token just because of their husbands job doesn't mean certain other people should get the Christmas number 1.
Once upon a time Christmas number one was about most popular song now it appears to be the reward for the most successful campaign, be it a six month advert on ITV or a however many part show on the BBC.
People used to be able to buy records without tv shows telling them. In fact Top of the Pops content was based on what the public bought. Changes days.
