Aerosmith
Even though a release date "around May" of 2012 has been offered for a new studio album, bear in mind that work on said album has been going, off and on (mostly off) for more than four years. During that time, every member of the band has been sidelined with various injuries and illnesses. And then there was the period when Steven Tyler wandered off the reservation for a while and was very nearly replaced as lead singer. On the positive side, under the terms of their contract, they still owe their record label one more original album.

Black Sabbath
After years of high hopes, hints, rumors (and denials of rumors) the long anticipated reunion of the original Black Sabbath lineup (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler) appears imminent. They are booked as the opening act for the Download Festival in the U.K. in June to launch a tour, with a new album planned for release in Fall 2012.

KISS
The guys with the heavy makeup plan a late Spring 2012 release of Monster, KISS's 20th studio album. All of the songs on the album were written by the band's members (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, Tommy Thayer) with Stanley and Greg Collins co-producing, as they did on the 2009 KISS album, Sonic Boom.

Rush
Rush started working on their 19th studio release, Clockwork Angels in early 2010. Two tracks ("Caravan" and "BU2B") were released to radio and digital download a few months later. Guitarist Alex Lifeson has described the album as "musically diverse." Neil Peart said he intended the album to be his "highest achievement" as both lyricist and drummer. Lead singer / bassist Geddy Lee said early sessions produced "songs that we just love." Full album release is expected in Spring 2012.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Typically, if Springsteen says he has a new album coming out, you don't have to worry that plans will suddenly change. He says work on the as yet untitled new release is "almost done" and promises details "real soon." Bookings are already being confirmed for a world tour that beings in Europe in May 2012.
A great year for Classic Rock fans???

Don't think you will get much response on this forum, all most people on here seem to care about is Lady Gaga and Rhianna!

As for Aerosmith, not sure I can get excited about that, it will probably just be another album of ballads!

Most of my favourite bands had albums out this year, and most of those bands only release an album every 3 or 4 years at best!

This year was a good year for me with new albums by

Cake (first in about 7 years)
Drugstore (first in 10 years)
Fountains Of Wayne (first in 4 years)

My other favourite band, The Eels released 3 albums in 18 months ending last year, so don't expect much from the yet either.

Could be a dull year TBH

Just remembered a new Get Cape Wear Cape Fly album is due out next year, might not be so bad!

Sorry, if this was supposed to be a rock thread lol (least its not about Gaga!)

Not quite in the same vein (but not Gaga) but I think Muse will be bringing out a new album as well.

I like Muse although I hope a new album would be more like their earlier stuff.

The big one I'm looking forward to next year is Rush as I am a massive fan and don't care how geeky that is

Who is writing it then? :s The last Muse album was a crap ego trip, hopefully they'll get back on form and stop trying to be so epic with the next album cos it always came naturally on thier previous albums.

Ringo Starr's latest album, 2012, is out on January 30th and one week later Paul McCartney releases his new album, My Valentine. A time for Beatles fans, although Paul's album is 90% cover tracks and Ringo's is only 9 tracks - including two of which are covers of his old tracks and two covers of other peoples songs. Not much originality from the two of them.
