Have been having a bit of a Strictly nostalgia day to celebrate the end of the series and been looking at videos of former series.

It not only struck me at the sheer number of celebrities who have taken part, but also at how many of those seem to have been erased from Strictly history.

The best example of this is Esther Rantzen. I'd completley forgotten about her partnership with Anton until I stumbled across her "Sharon Osbourne Inspired Tango" earlier (which received terrible scores back then but would probably be given something in the region of 25 today!)

Other honourable mentions include Jaye Jacobs (the first case of "Shock Exit", perhaps), Ray Fearon and Siobhan Hayes (who actually produced one of my very favourite Waltz's of all time with Matthew when she reprised it in the final!)

Can you think of any other contestants who seem to have been wiped from Strictly history?

That bloke Will Thorpe series 3 (who I had never heard off at the time and have never heard off since) and I dont mean Willie Thorne !!!!
Ballroom-B.

Mica Paris. Danced with Ian Waite in series 4 and was 1st out. Not a memorable partnership.
Claire Sweeney in series 1. Danced with John Byrnes - it was the only series he did. She was one of the better contestants and probably deserves the 1st shock exit award as she was probably the superior dancer in the series but lost out to Chris Parker.

People seem to forget about Carol Vorderman doing it, I know that we haven't on here (one word: rhumba).

Will Thorp too, I agree, my friend is an SCD addict and yet when he appeared in Corrie recently she couldn't remember him at all.

The dozy one off 'My Family' too!

Esther Rancid needs forgetting, she was an attention seeking, self-obsessed nightmare, constantly trying to hog the camera when being spoken to, or in any group discussion. Jason's occasional antics reminded me much of her, neither could give a "yes" or "no" answer to a question.

A lot of early leavers are often forgotten. Gloria Hunniford and Jessie Wallace are two that spring to mind (poor Darren!).

Also Ray Fearon is often forgotten but I actually thought he was quite good!

Will Thorpe is a good shout!

I loved Series 3 but it wasn't until it finished he wasn't the Australian swimmer.

Carol Vorderman gets forgotten too- I remember when she interviewed Nancy Dell'olio on Loose Women just after the cast for this year was announced and Nancy said something along the lines of "I expect to see you on there next year, Carol!"

Diarmuid Gavin was just awful in Series 3 but didn't score as lowly as Quentin Wilson (8/40!) or be as comedic as Julian Clary, so seems to have disappeared from people's memories (although that fate has befell all of Nicole's partners- anyone remember Nicolas Owen's efforts?)

In my Top 5 contestants of all time

I thought hers and Matthews first (and only) dance was really quite moving and undermarked (when you consider Fiona scored only 4 less and that was infinitley worse)

Carol Vorderman was really bitter after her departure and didn't return for the final show with the others.

That Holby City actress who went out in Week 3 of Series 1.

Strictly and BB are for better or worse my only TV must watch shows...weirdly I can remember virtually every BB housemate....although I may need the odd prompt....but for some reason I can`t recall the vast majority of contestants who`v appeared on SCD....Just watched the re-cap vid of the contestants from series three and I was.....I`d forgotten 5 of the 9 eliminated celebs had appeared on the show.

Which is rather baffling as the final was imo one of the best.....Puppet-gate...Zoe Ball and the journey man Darren Gough eventually taking the winners crown.

Nicholas Owen, Mica Paris, Brian Capron, Phil Daniels - all easily forgotten.

And Martina Hingis, who wasn't given a chance. I think her leaving in week 1 was the reason the BBC changed the format and gave everyone at least 2 weeks.

Jimmy Tarbuck. Poor Flavia was lumbered with him.

Brian Capron!

He danced a Waltz to the Godfather Theme and Bruno told him he had the gait of a Serial Killer.

Thanks for the clip of Siobhan's dance, Stig! Was technically a very elegant performance but Arlene and Craig stiffed her with scores of 2 and 3 respectivley I think!

Patsy Palmer, one of the most famous EastEnders stars of all time, was a little forgettable too. One of the few times Anton's been given anything remotley resembling a contender.

What a far more respectful audience back then.

I actually find Gary Rhodes quite memorable but for all the wrong reasons

I think it's a pity that Tina O'Brien will be forgotten because she was partnered with a forgettable pro - if the producers had done their jobs properly and hired a decent pro for her then it could have been a different story!

I'd completely forgotten about Nicholas Owen until Monkseal included a picture of him sitting in the audience, in his recap

Some more- Martin Offiah, Roger Black, Richard Dunwoody.

It's weird that a lot of contestants from the earlier series' are more forgettable than those from more recent series'.
