My point exactly. You would think that in 3 years their success would have grown - Girls Aloud in their 3rd year were much bigger than The Saturdays are now. Most of their singles have hit the top 10 but have fallen very quickly, the fact that they're seemingly desperate for bigger success and #1s also makes them come across as unlikeable. As for Sugababes they need to get the public back on their side if they want further success and the only way I can see them doing that is a name change.

I agree with this totally!! I follow each member on Twitter and when they were releasing "Missing You" the desperation from each of them to guarantee a number 1 was almost bordering sad!! Even though I like The Sats, I couldn't help but giggle when the song went in at number 3!! Awful I know!!

I personally think part of the problem is when a new album is being released, the wrong first song keeps on getting released...

"If This Is Love" should have been "Up" (Chasing Lights)
"Forever Is Over" should have been "Ego" (Wordshaker)
"Missing You" should have been "Higher" (Headlines)
"Notorious" should have been "All Fired Up" (On Your Radar)

Just my opinion of course!! I'm sure many people will disagree with me!!

I 100% agree, I think their idea is that by releasing a worst single first it'll still get them a top 10 because fans will buy it, but they need to forget about that, because by releasing the best single first they're almost guaranteeing higher album sales, by the time the second single comes out no one is interested in the album and its been a total waste, surely someone at their label can see this?!

Oh, I've heard it all now. It seems you're desperate to find ways to dislike them.

Only on here would an artist be blasted for wanting to be successful and achieve more.

When everything they release flops, it looks desperate when theyre begging for a number one.

When Missing You came out they were practically offering to get their minges out if it got to number 1.

They didn't even sell out Cardiff Arena, the UK's smallest

So in 3 years they've gone absolutely nowhere?

I agree with this however I thought Missing You was a good debut single off the album, I was actually gutted that it didn't get to #1 it's my favorite song of theirs.

But I agree with the rest, Ego especially, isn't it their best selling single?

I'm not sure though as I think Eurovision in the UK is seen as "trashy" and rubbish. If they did Eurovision though they would have to have a song specially written for them as they couldn't sing any of their singles.

It's ok to like more than one girlband without feeling the need to put one down to big the other up! I like both Little Mix and The Sats.”

I can never understand the rivalry between girlbands. I remember when The Sats came out first there were comparisons between them and Girls Aloud and weren't there comparisons between Sugababes and Girls Aloud?

They are not over, but they need to take more of a risk musically! But they have done well tbh.

Yeah but you need to look at it in terms of places. I went to Birmingham and yes, it wasn't sold out but there was at least 7,000-9,000 people there whereas Cardiff Arena only holds 4,000...so it was Cardiff that was the problem rather than The Sats I would say.

I never really liked the Saturdays until 'Notorious' came out. Then they released 'All Fired Up' (one of the best songs of the year IMO) and yet to be honest, all they're known for are the column inches they generate in 3am.

The Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, Sugababes (until the latest incarnation)...all were different image-wise but they had that 'something' which made them popular with the British public. The Saturdays have vocal 'oomph' (Vanessa, Rochelle & Una), they have the looks but not the (sorry to say it) x factor needed to be massive.

It doesn't look good for them.. Girls Aloud have been on hiatus for over 2 years, the Sugababes havent been a threat since Keisha left and still their album charts at #23 with bad sales..

The signs all point to it getting worse with Frankie and her "illness" and Una getting married and pregnant, they arent in a position to take a break as their sales suggest, they have a dedicated fanbase but they dont appeal to many other people enough for them to buy the album or buy the tickets...

They need to leave Fascination who apart from Girls Aloud, who had already released three albums by the time they went there, they just mess up big time..

Realistically the girls have another single from this album then a 'compilation' and 2 singles at the end of next year. TBF not bad to get a 4 year career as a girlgroup nowadays. Sugababes career ended after 'Girls' 3 years ago and GA have since been absent. Little Mix are the only "relevant" group to appear since 2003.

Little Mix will flop, give it 18 months to 2 years.

As for the Saturdays, they are absolutely painful live (I had no choice, trust me)

the thing with the saturdays is (like jordin sparks, alexis jordan, beverley knight, estelle) no-one cares enough to buy their music. that aint gonna change. The sooner they are dropped for their own sakes the better.

Their new album has almost sold the same amount in 4 weeks as their debut Chasing Lights did in 4 weeks, which eventually sold just shy of 400k. Whether they'll be able to salvage the era with a 4th single sharpish remains to be seen but I doubt it.”

Neither the chart positions or the sales for "On Your Radar" are anything to write home about. It debuted at #23 with 18,044 units and its chart run has so far been 23, 53, 75 and 85. Not even releasing 3 singles prior to releasing the album managed to save it. It's a flop. Simple as. It will end up floundering around a silver certification. I honestly can't see a fourth single saving it.

Much like Girls Aloud, The Saturdays are pretty much nonexistent outside of either the UK and Ireland. Their 3 studio albums and the "Headlines" EP have not even collectively sold 1 million WW yet. They really aren't huge sellers.

I think they need the right breakthrough.
They need a commercial ww song and they need a GOOD video nothing cheap and it needs to be released all over Europe with promo!
Then they will catch their break!

what are the sales so far for OYR ?

interestingly..... on last nights tv quiz show 'pointless', contestants were asked to name the girlgroups who released 12 tracks, all different girlgroup artists... the saturdays were not reprisented.

is that because they are too obscure? unliked? unknown?....

I think the Saturdays still have a lot of potential!

They just need a big smash song and a consistent album.

I am missing the Sugababes though.
