How do bands decide who sings what on songs?
I wonder if anyone here has any knowledge of this as I am curious? I am talking here about pop bands who have no real lead vocalist like the Saturdays or The Wanted?
Do they all record their vocals then the producer decides or does the songwriter decide? Thanks |

Well "bands" like the ones you've just mentioned probably have zero input in their music and just go along with what the poducers/record bosses tell them.

I remember Girls Aloud talking about this. They said they each record the whole track individually, then its up to the producer to decide who sounds best on which bit. I imagine it would be the same for all manufactured groups.
eta: You can hear Girls Aloud talking about it here, from 1.40 onwards (the 'Brian' they refer to is Brian Higgins, who produces all of GA's songs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwilt...eature=related |
