Across all of her many albums and singles which one(s) would you pick as your all time favourite Madonna song?

Live to Tell (from True Blue) such a beautiful song, you can really feel the emotion which she sings of

I find it hard to pick my favourite album....but i think the Madonna song i love the most right now is most definitely Words from Erotica!

It really is a fantastic kinda "defense" song, words may attack you but you end up stronger and fighting back....it is so poignant on so so many levels bullying, spousal abuse, racism....and fighting back against it Very powerful.

Most absurd song - Impressive Instant from the Music album, the beats, the deep Trance style by Mirwais and the nonsensical flow of the lyrics are amazing.

Keep It Together from the Like A Prayer album, i do wish it had more attention....very much adapts a Psychadelic Funk beat from the late 60s Underground scene and has a message that is very autobiographical and you take a ride on the journey....it is a showcase anthemic song! Very Deep Funk and Madonnas vocals are HAWT!

Let It Will Be from Confessions On A Dance Floor, (notice a pattern here) it very much is autobiographical on some levels, the rapid paced beats and Trance....and Madonna adapting a Kraftwerk style vocal meets Punky belter....IMMENSE.

&, Skin from Ray Of Light....very multi-layered in beats and progressive, about a fight for survival and the sonics and electric guitar rhythms are very fast paced and energetic and Madonnas vocal is very euphoric and dramatic too.

That was tough norrowing them down....millions more....and her next album will only make it tougher too.

So many favorites but if I can only pick one it is Into The Groove. That's the track that first got me into her.

It is funny that was her first UK number 1 wasnt it....the reason i say this is so many say it....such a timeless anthemic song....but so many fans that have been fans since her first era really say Into The groove hit them hard.

Which fits all together with the Warner Bros. marketing, re-release of ehr debut and LAV albums in 85

Lol sorry BrooklynBoy for highlighting your post in particular there....but it all suddenly made some sense in my mind haha.

Ahhh.... There does come a point, when I'm a huge fan of an artist, when I do think of what my favourite songs/albums/tour/look/eras are, but in terms of songs I've not done it for Madonna yet. I guess that's because there's still some stuff I need to listen to properly and digest - American Life, Bedtime Stories, Hard Candy, I'm Breathless, songs from these albums mostly.

I'll have a go now, but this'll change by the end of tomorrow probably:

Live to Tell
Papa Don't Preach
Promise to Try
Express Yourself
Till Death Do Us Part
Vogue
Deeper and Deeper
(Maybe) Secret
Nothing Really Matters
Drowned World/Substitute for Love
Swin
Frozen
Skin
Power of Goodbye
Gone
(Paradise on the Confessions Tour)
Don't Tell Me
Mother and Father
Get Together
Let It Will Be
Forbidden Love
Like it or Not

I'm sorry for such a long list , I didn't think I'd find it so hard.

I'll second that!

Into The Groove also pinpoints the exact time Madonna became a superstar in the UK, as a rereleased Holiday was at number 2 at the same time Into the Groove was at No 1. This was an event deemed so impressive, it was one of the top reports on BBC news!
