People Moaning about the Military Wives

I'm fed up of people moaning about them.

I have to be honest, it isn't my cup of tea, not that I drink it, but there you are. I will buy it though just because of the reason for the single being released, fundraising, not keeping Little Mix off the top spot. Before you call me a sad sod I also bought Little Mix for my girlfriend.

Why on earth would you buy a record you don't like?
Why not just donate the money straight to them? They get the money and you don't get a shit record that sounds like the Christmas Tree Song from Home Alone 2.

What I get hacked of about this Military Wives thing is its a song from a tv show so no difference from X Factor.
That coupled with the ridiculous pro Army nonsense that surrounds it.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, It's guys doing a job that that they chose to do that is hardly cloaked in mystery about what involves. And the military wives know what they are marrying into so if it's a problem don't marry into it.
If someone doesn't like heights they aren't going to work as a roofer are they? Same thing applies here.

Even if people don't agree with the military sentiment, surely anything that promotes the idea that coming together and singing together during a stressful time is worthwhile? The difference between the Military Wives show and the X Factor is that the reason Gareth Malone started a choir with the wives was to help them find comfort and support through singing while their husbands were away. Quite a contrast to a show designed solely to make Simon Cowell even richer!

Edit: And I actually quite like the song too

I actually like the song and I like the sentiment behind it. It is better to support a song where the proceeds go to charity than the usual X Factor crap. I hope the Military Wives get Christmas number 1.

So he puts together a choir on a tv show then they sing a song and release it.
X Factor put together a group on a tv show then they sing a song and released it.
As far as I can see the difference is 'group' and 'choir' both records a part of a tv based marketing campaign for a number 1 record.

I've never understood why people purchase charity singles. If you truly want to give to charity then just donate some money. I suppose it's easier to pick up a 5 pound single or however much they cost these days but it's such an empty gesture. Many buying this single won't even open it up to listen to it. You know the charities will pull this stunt every year from now on. I'd sooner have The X Factor at number one at Xmas. At least people are buying those songs because they actually like them, even if they are all crap.
