I dont think its really fair to designate one woman as the best ever or a man as the best ever because there are so many things that should be taken in consideration.
There have been so many changes on the show over the years,in some series they were a plethora of good dancers(serie 5) whereas in others not so much(this serie and serie1).So I dont think its fair for all celebs who took part in this show to choose only one person as the best ever.
For the females, I would say Kara and Alesha are probably on the same level.However, Rachel and Lisa were both really good but they didnt put a lot of emotion in their routines just my opinion and were not really popular with the public.
I think that if Chelsee had the same amount of time as Kara and Alesha she would have been probably be even better than Kara yes I said it

Alesha and Kara were not working during their time on strictly and they had all the time to rehearse as many times as they could,Chelsee didnt have that luxury.For the amount of tough choreography she was given week after week for a limited amount of time, I would rate Chelsee above Kara/Alesha I know many will disagree with me but its my opinion.
For the men once again its tough to pick one.I would rate Matt Baker above Harry.Colin was very good and Mark also.So top 3 for men will be Mark,Colin, Harry.

edy10...Ricky Whittle was also working full time during his stint on strictly...I think Matt de Angelo was also working
....as were many other celebs....I liked Chelsee but she was`t in the same league as Kara

. All Im saying is that Im not sure that Kara/Alesha would have fared as(that)well as she did if they had her same schedule.

Have only watched last 4 seasons in detail. My choices reflect that. Male is easy.

Lisa Snowdon was doing two jobs.The Capital Radio Breakfast program and "Britains Newest Top Model ". Her day was forced to be long to get her training in.
The more challenging question is to identify single best performances. Even though I actually don't rate him anywhere near the best male dancer[ that I have seen, two of Tom's performances are worth mentioning. His showdance, which everyone mentions, and in particular, his Foxtrot in the quarterfinal. The latter is one of my favourite performances overall. How ironic that I think that his crappy attempt to repeat it in the final should have resulted in his elimination.

Really? I'm a Matt Baker fan and even I'd question the choice of his lowest scoring dance as a favourite
Samba on the other hand I do think series 8 did have best female and male dancers in Kara and Matt. I just wish Matt had more time available for practice and then it would have been even better
Prior to that I would have said my favourites were Alesha and Ricky Whittle. I'd still maybe consider Alesha ahead of Kara as whilst her latin could be a bit messy I think it was a lot more dynamic than Kara...
