Hi everyone,
I am "close" to buying the above 5.1 system to go with my Panasonic Viera 37" HD TV & Virgin TiVo box.
Anyone using this sound system care to pass any comments on its performance, how pleased you are with it etc.
This system is the top of my price range so vfm is obviously a key point. So please don't recommend something over say £350!!
I also intend to but the wireless module for the rear speakers - anyone using these?

VFM all depends on what you value as decent features to have.

We here would generally recommend a separate AV amp and a speaker package to which you would add a Blu-ray player. The AV amp & speakers would weigh in around the £350 mark from the discounters. The cost of a BD player would be on top. This would obviously blow your "£350-max" budget out of the water. But the reaction from those who have followed this advice and upgraded from the sort of all-in-one package you're looking at has been universal... "Massive jump in sound quality" "Best thing I ever did" etc etc.

As all-in-ones go the Panasonic isn't bad. It has a few inputs (most don't or are very limited) and you get the online streaming toys.

Wireless rear speakers: The speakers still need power from somewhere. The somewhere is either a couple of mains sockets (so you're trading speaker wires for power cables and tying up a couple of sockets) or from batteries. Is this what your were expecting?

I reckon this set up would blow that Panasonic into the weeds. It certainly beats it hands down on facilities. Not least the connectivity. You should have more than enough sockets for all your kit and anything you want to add, eg satellite receiver, PVR, games console or whatever.

What good is a stereo headphone amplifier to the OP?

I presume a cock-up on the linking front?

Hi, ive got the PANASONIC SCBTT370 which i got just after xmas 2011 been very impressed with surround. but since Today the fan has been running quite loudly rang panasonic & they said to keep an eye on it. want i want to know is this a known issue with panasonic after a while or is it a sign of something more serious?

Check the ventilation slots on the machine. Make sure they are clear of dust build up. Usual cause of a fan running a lot is heat build up. So clean out any vent slots you can find.

Another possible cause is simply that the fan bearings are becoming noisy. Or that the fan blades are hitting the casing or something trapped in the fan.

If you feel up to it then taking the lid off and giving the interior a good clear out might aid cooling if that is the problem.

Fans can go noisy for a variety of reasons, not all of them imply a serious fault. Though if the unit is getting excessively hot in use and the vents are clear then that might indicate a more serious fault.

Panasonic SC-BTT370 Sound System.

A friend of mine has not long bought one of these and is quite happy with it. Both sound and picture quality are good as far as all-in-one's go but of course are never going to match that of a proper AV Receiver but that said, it'll do the job quite nicely.

Iv'e had 3 Panasonic all-in-one's over the years and never had a problem with them (just upgraded as they got better) and all still working fine if a little out dated

No its not running hot just that yestersay noticed the fan is a lot more audible/louder..... but i wiil have a close look for dust & blockages later.

I have checked the unit for blockages fan cover looks ok, but i did notice that since i havent used the unit since last night it was still quite warm this m/ning but not hot but very warm had noticed this before but didnt think to much of it untill i heard the fan was more audible/louder.

Do you have it in a cabinet? Is there any other equipment stacked above or below it?

You need to make sure there is adequate all round space for ventilation. If you use it in a cabinet with doors then perhaps leave the doors open while it's being used so the heat can escape.

If you have other units stacked above and/or below it consider if it can be "unstacked" or maybe try and devise a means to increase the spacing above and below to improve the air flow. You can get small plastic stick on feet that might help, eg

although a pack of 36 might be a bit excessive. Though I have actually seen kit get so hot that feet like those melt! So a few spares may come in handy

The unit is not running warm anymore the sound from the unit is only more audible/louder when i switch the T.V. on & it goes to B-IN. The unit was sitting on top of the Sky box with a magazine book inbetween its now sitting on its own. so im not sure whether to let Panasonic have a look at it to found out why the unit is running louder.
