Help needed with Raydons Modification,
Need some handholding please, with modifying my Foxsat HDR.
I am trying to get the Foxsat to show a modified EPG and I cannot figure how to get it to work. I have followed the instructions given in the Channel Editor HTML, but I must be missing something and I am now out of my comfort zone and need some help. I have edited the FOXSAT-HDR_channel_update.flc file, (dated 21/12/2012). Deleted the FOXSAT-HDR_channel_update.flc file, (dated 01/01/2000).from Media/channels, pasted the edited .flc file into Media/channels. rebooted the Foxsat, expecting to see a modified EPG, but there is no change. When I go back into the Media/channel file my edited file is missing and the old .flc file (Dated 01/01/2000 ) is still there. How do I get the modified .flc file to stay in the Media/channel folder in the Foxsat, I think that is where my problem lies. |

Nothing will happen until you reboot the HDR - at each boot the HDR will update the flash memory where the channels are stored with the contents of the update IF the file has changed or IF this is the first user boot of the day. After each update the timestamp of the update is changed to 01/01/2000. You may need to use the refresh key (f5) when viewing folders (especially when using FileZilla) |

Thanks REPASSAC for the reply.
A little more information so that you can help me. I am missing something and I don't know what it is. I think the problem is the way I am creating the .flc files. I create a .flc backup file containing the modified list. Enter it into the Media/Channel folder. Close the Media folder, open it again, open the .flc file I have just entered and it is empty of the modified list. What am I doing wrong? |

A little more information so that you can help me. I am missing something and I don't know what it is. When I now look at the .flc files in Media/Channels they contain no information. The columns are empty. I remake an new update.flc file containg the edited list, enter into Media/Channels, reboot the FOXSAT, there is no updated EPG, I then look into the Media/Channel folder and the ,flc files are again empty. I must be doing something wrong in transfering the files, The FOXSAT will not accept a modified .flc file. The edited .flc file does contain the modified list after I have entered it into the Media/Channel list, it is emptied when I boot up the FOXSAT. Try mapping a network drive to //foxsat-hd/media go down to the channels folder and edit from there. |

Thanks for staying with me REPASSAC, this is giving me some grief.
I have edited the FULL list, both Freesat and Non Freesat channels. All I have done in the list is Hidden channels that I do not require. I have saved the edited .flc file and it is that file I am entering into the Channel list. I haven't changed any channel numbers. Another strange effect I am having is that the saved .flc files, sometimes appear unpopulated, another times I can see the entries. I cannot figure out why this is happening. I can reboot the Foxsat, reboot my computer, look in Channel list, click on FOXSAT-HDR_channels_backup.flc and I can see the edited .flc file. If I close the file down and re-open it sometimes it appears unpopulated. This is happening with all the .flc files I have got on my computer. |

I do see a change in the Channel list, both the Freesat list and the Non-Freesat list are modified after entering the updated .fcl file. The channel editor is working ok, it is modifying the EPG, what is happening is, I cannot view a modified complete list, containing both Freesat and Non-Freesat programmes when I open the Foxsat EPG. I am not interested in modifying the entries ie. removing unwanted stations, I can do that using the Foxsat, what I wanted to do was view and use Freesat and Non Freesat channels on the one single EPG, without having to go to Menu and changing to non-freesat mode, to view Sky News. I thought that the modification would accomplish that.
My head is a liitle clearer this morning, I was suffering from 'Brain Fatigue' last night. |

Are you following the instructions word for word? I suggest you do, don't make any modifications apart from changing the non-freesat option to freesat and save, copy the file to the humax, reboot and the non-freesat channels should be before 101, thats how mine went anyway.

You can also hide any freesat channels you don't want - If you have not already done so, the channel editor will now overwrite any changes you make on the HDR. |

Got another little problem, I've lost the instructions..
I followed your advice and removed and re-installed the channel-editior. Now when I look in Media/Channels the instructions are no longer there. I presumed that they had been removed from the download site, in readyness for a new version. Can you tell me where to get the instructions from please? |

Thank you REPASSAC, for all your help. thanks to you
LongBallPlease also, I have finally sorted it out. I feel such a plonker, because what I wasn't doing is setting the channels to which EPG I wanted them to show, in the channel editor. I was keepiing the Non-freesat channels I wanted in the Non-freesat mode. When I changed the non freesat channels I wanted, to show in the freesat EPG, my problem was solved. It's so easy when you know how, Especially if you have got friends that are willing to help in forums such as this. Thanks!! |

No worries, the only reason I added this custom software is for the Channel Editor so I could have Al Jazeera Sports on my EPG, it took me 2 or 3 days to get it right as I don't have Internet Access at the minute (just a rubbish dongle), loving the streaming as well, can watch TV in bed through my laptop connected to my lcd tv, awesome.
