Anyone here backing it? I'm not purchasing music this Xmas week but thought I'd ask if anyone here's got in the Nerimon spirit.

He sold 35,402 copies this week so far. Military Wives have sold 319,464. I'd say it's unlikely. (Source Radio 1)

NB: Don't dare blaspheme the donkey!

He does seem to be over the moon that he's at least making it into the top 10 lol.

I can see why though. His other chart attempts involved other YouTubers (SOA and Chartjackers). Sons Of Admirals didn't chart and that had 4 big YouTubers' subscribers combined. Chartjackers only just made the chart and it had the support of a BBC show.

I was a bit skeptical when he announced the chart attempt, as it is likely will have had less followers. But he's done phenomenonally well for an unsigned act with only his YouTube and Twitter fanbase to promote the song. Even making top 40 would be a huge achievement, let alone top 5 (he's #4 at the moment!)

He's put a lot more effort into it this time -- released 12 versions of the track, a video a day leading up to "Forever Day", a spot on Radio 1, etc. I think previously he just kind of assumed his and SoA's (particularly Charlie's) fanbases would make it happen without him having to do too much. Learned his lesson and this time he's actually worked for it. I mean, let's face it -- out of the lot of them, Alex has the biggest ego. It was nice to see him put that aside and be more realistic about what he needed to do to make it happen.

People are buying the gimmick not the song, which is crap imo.

i like many of his youtube videos, but more often than not they end in a pathetic plea to buy his tat - either his (imo) rubbish songs, that card game he made, and that crappy wristband. i don't really watch his videos any more as a result of that - trying to milk every penny from his mostly teenage girl fanbase is extremely tacky and indefensible to me.
