Britney for me, love all of her songs and albums. Beyonce I find very hit and miss.

Beyonce is infinitely more talented and inspirational than Britney.

With Britney, the only people I know who like her are those of similar age to me who grew up listening to her. The younger ones don't really seem interested - it's almost like she's old and past it. Whereas Beyonce reaches out to all sorts of ages - she's sort of timeless in that respect.

Ridiculous to compare each to the other completely different and i have followed both since 99 i would say Britney from 1999-2005 her output was untouchable and legendary even in the midst of a breakdown she made her masterpiece perhaps not the best singer or artist but a damn good entertainer.

Beyonce has never had a good level of consistency it's either great innovative albums (4), awful missteps (sasha fierce) but usually has a good set of singles and again amazing entertainer

But overall Britney because she has had consistently good albums iconic singles and at her height and even now was regarded as one of Pop's great innovators and stars Beyonce just whilst more talented never quite reaches her potential unless on stage

Britney however....i have grown up with and i have every album and even though her debut two albums and Circus are more "mixed" i still like the albums....as a performer she has that X factor. And she is such a prolific woman! Love her, hate her, love to hate her, hate to love her....Britney is a massive icon.

I think she can be a considered a role model for having it all, losing it all, breaking down and raking it all back again....its very inspirational

So yeah out of both Britney MILES ahead”

But for people who have perhaps not grown up with her, would you still say she is a role model, in general, compared to Beyonce who has had a steady career and relationship in the public eye?

I cannot speak for everyone of course.

I mean as i say for ME neither i consdier MY "role models" my role modles are - Madonna, Batman, Buffy Summers and The Doctor (11th) tbh.

But Britney i feel is more inspirational on such a level. Beyonce is the pretty angel who can "do no wrong" while Britney always faces so much criticism and overcomes it like the best.

Beyonce hasnt even had the test of that at all in her career!

Also while Femme Fatale hasnt had the same level of attention as 4...Femme Fatale has reached her loyal fanbase and sustained over a million copies sold worldwide....while 4 really required attention from glasto and other performances to promote and endorse to garner similar sales IMO.

Not bashing 4...i love it! But Britney practically sold name alone really in comparison. I think that says a lot too really.

But again icannot speak for everyone entirely. But IMO Britney is a massive role model in the sense of having a massively successful career, establishing herself as an icon in such a short amount of time, her massive media breakdown and her much publicised return to music. Unfortunately Britney wont ever be the same Britney we grew up and loved but her albums are so consistent regardless of public opinion.

britney to me is an icon and beyonce is an icon too. so both are very admirable.

both have different styles of music. this year really different with their sales as well. britney's albums sales aren't great but her album is her best praised album since opps i did it again. but her singles sales and charting were better perfomring.

beyonce's 4 sales are higher and also her best artistically album yet. but her singles aren't great with sales and chart performing.

Britney was a bigger role model for girls 10 years ago than beyonce has ever been. However beyonce is a much better role model.

Beyonce all the way. She has a good attitude, good work ethic, she's an amazing performer, amazing singer/dancer. She's a fantastic role model.

Britney on the other hand just mimes. She's never, ever been an amazing singer. She was at one point a fantastic dancer, but that was only really during the days of Slave 4 U. She then started to go mad and lost it. I know she's had her issues, but she married a guy in Vegas and then got divorced 55 hours later, got with another guy and had two kids with him, has now married a completely different guy. She went completely off the wall. I know everyone in life faces problems and issues, but if we're looking at who is the better role model...it's clearly Beyonce. The only thing left about Britney now that I find fascinating is whether or not she'll ever make a comeback that can be classed as satisfying, but I don't think there's a hope in hell that will happen.

I agree entirely that the name Britney has built up for herself has contributed hugely to the success of the album and to your point that she became an icon in a very short time is a good point too as the success she had with 'hit me one more time' was so huge that perhaps there has always been a struggle to reach that impactful level again.
Your point about Beyonce not being tested however, surely Beyonce has had to face the same struggles with fame as Britney and she seems to have remained steady, despite having the same amount of public exposure?

beyonce.she's had to work very hard to earn $27m minimum a year, businesses, ads, record sales, public rep. and not forgetting how hard her and DC had to work to get a deal. she's worked FAR harder than most in the industry today. it takes ages to get a voice like hers and performance skills. Ive seen her i am tour, and the work she put into it almost 2 years before the first rehearsal to make sure it was all perfect. britney mimes and B does it all live. Look at the influence. who has britney influenced who's in the industry? no one. thats because she's had nothing to show. beyonce's inspired alexandra burke, rihanna, nicki minaj, jojo, nicole scherzinger even leona lewis. she goes hard in all she does, and it shows (glasto 2011?)

britney should stop faking it, lord, even people arent paying £55 to see her mime in the UK. times up love. britney got famous because of her look at the end of the bubblegum pop epoch in the 90s, she was the pretty white girl who was a bad girl at heart. i remember the ridiculous hype over her debut and how she was the best thing since sliced bread. ive yet to see britney have an album thats not mainstream in anyway to show her artistry too, like 4.

beyonces done well using r&b. its quite the dying mainstream genre now, and she's sold 75m records solo using r&b which is incredible. she works hard and deserves what she has, father as her manager or not. and if B had a breakdown like britney i doubt she could make a comeback at all. she'd be ridiculed on a horrific scale (IMHO).

Britney - Hands down for me.

Both are great role models, both make good music, both put on a great show.
But I prefer Britney in general.
Massive points to Beyonce talent-wise though.

yes i know that. and even then it was heavily influenced by r&b ie. Ego/Diva/single ladies. there was always a pop and r&b double a side thing going on.

I've grown up listening to both women and seeing them both become icons. But I have to say Beyonce, especially in terms of performing. She always delivers.

Britney for me. I admire her so much due to her breakdown and I think she's a role model for being at the lowest of the low but then rising like a phoenix from the ashes

Ok, that was a bit cheesy, but I do admire her for her star quality in a weird way. Only Britney could mime a whole tour for a year and end up having one of the best selling tours ever!

And I am really unsure as to why everyone claims that Beyonce is a fantastic performer She just wails all the time, shakes her head around and crawls around on the floor!

Preach!!!

Beyonce can sing but for some reason she seems to do exactly what you said.

Better role model: Beyonce
Most talanted: Beyonce

However I prefer Britney as an artist, performer and person.

Beyonce is a better singer and dancer...

But Britney has better music, better videos, and the definitive popstar lifestyle.

Britney hands down.Love her or loathe her, she's much more interesting overall than Beyonce. She has more memorable moments and she had a huge public breakdown but she managed to come back, which is considered quite a big achievement.
