Great that someone has mentioned Harry Nilsson already - as well as Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye

I would like to add Don McLean!

I like my music old, very very old, so a few of these names will mean nothing to some people.

Elvis Presley (his 1954 to 1958 output only)
Sam Cooke
Jackie Wilson
Chuck Berry
Little Richard
Jerry Lee Lewis
Fats Domino
Big Joe Turner
Otis Redding
Roy Orbison
Bobby Darin
Scott Walker
Randy Newman
Neil Young
Harry Nilsson
Smokey Robinson
Elvis Costello
Dave Edmunds
Bob Dylan (in small doses)
Stevie Wonder (in small doses)
David Bowie (in small doses)

plus others whose names currently escape me.

I can’t believe no one has put George Michael on here. Surely one of the greatest British male solo artists ever – the guy is a legend (musically)
