I would say that there will not be a 3 as such.
The S2 is the iconic Android phone and thus a 3 would dilute the appeal.
An S2-Big could be launched though.

And gossip merchants certainly seem to have made up the term Super Amoled 3

If you need a phone now, then get the S2...

S3 will be out by March/April...

I'm not in need of one no, just thinking of upgrading to a smart phone. Seen the Galaxy S2 for £364 - worked out with PAYG for me is slightly cheaper than contract.

Would it then be best to just wait - I guess the price will be considerably more for the new S3 ! ?

yes the S3 will be expensive as it will be the flagship for Samsung.

No one knows what the S3 will have, if you could wait till February when it is rumoured to be showcased at the MWC then wait and see... But it will be one powerful device... probably a quad core, 720p, super amoled plus and with Ice Cream Sandwich...

Just ordered the S2 !

Had a read around the rumours on-line - could be half way through 2012 before you see anything out on the street properly. It will be expensive too.

Ice cream sandwich is also coming to the S2 - so OS wise- no change.

Got the S2 for £372 with 2 years warranty so cant complain.

out now so happy new year people !

I went into O2 today and saw the Samsung Galaxy 2 and it felt cheap in my hands. a very plasticy feel to it. I was not impressed by the feel but the screen did look really good and seemed really fast.

Plastic is still the best material.

The rumour now is that the Asus Prime's GPS is hindered a lot by the metal case.
It may well be catch 22 for competitors who have far less forgiving customers.

That may be so but it feels cheap. I have had the Iphone 3 and the Iphone4 and even the Iphone3 has a better feel to it than the Samsung.

But then its a lot cheaper than a Iphone 4s.

Get the Casemate Tough Case - about £15 from Amazon. This will give you superb protection, allay any fears over breaking the phone (not that that's likely) and just make the phone feel more solid in the hand.

Highly recommended.

It just goes to show that you can't tell a book by it's cover. The phone is actually very tough and the 'Thin' battery cover is very strong and a much better quality than most.
Then again if you are happy with a chunky phone........

He never said it was fragile he said it felt cheap which it does.
IMO it has the look and feel of a £100 handset not a £400 flagship device.

which as we've pointed out is deceptive, as its actually more rugged than the iphone, which whilst 'feeling' strong is actually very fragile.

Some people might consider the iphone a bit of an old-fashioned 'brick' phone compared to the modern thinness of the S2 and Nexus.

Still whatever suits you

I would hardly call an iphone 4 a brick its smaller than the S2 and is only 9mm thick i dont have either phone btw.

And I wouldn't say the S2 has the look and feel of a cheap phone. See, it's all subjective.

It is 99% Chinese whispers that often comes at a heavy cost.
I'd also put Apple's bizarre patent claims as being similar marketing.

There is far more important stuff like radiation levels. The iPhone by design being at the top end having 3 times that of the S2.
Whilst wifi usage in phones may in fact be more dangerous(guessing) it is always sensible to choose a low one.

I have decided not to buy a phone just yet. My iphone4 died totally today so had to go and get a adapter chip and stick a chip back in my iphone 3.

The Samsung galaxy i did not like the feel off and would be out of date within 3 months or so and a Iphone4s is not worth it when its such a small upgrade from my iphone4.

So i have decided to wait a few months and see what samsung announce or Iphone.
