Your biggest "Woah, dude" moments!

Basically, those moments in Doctor Who which genuinely shock you. BBC3 re-showing "The End Of Time" prompted this thread, as mine are from both episodes.

Part 1: The narrator being a Time Lord.
Part 2: The Time Lords returning ... and being evil!

I'm purely a NuWho watcher (only seen bits and pieces of Classic), and I'd built up the image of the Time Lords being this noble, peace-loving race. Then, when they make their first appearance in the revived series (bar The Doctor obviously), they are attempting to wipe out all of existence. Woah, dude.

Thousands of Daleks pouring out of the Genesis Ark in 'Doomsday' for me.

Or maybe the Doctor's death at the start of 'Day of the Moon'. Yes, we all knew it would turn out to not be final, but it was still a great moment.

The Third Doctors sword fight in The Sea Devils. Sorry, but it's just made of win.

And the Doctors death in Day of the Moon.

I thought the Doctor's death was in the Impossible Astronaut

Either way, I agree with that, wholeheartedly (though was surprised to find out they gave the game away on the BBC Website)...

The next moment came an episode later when that little girl regenerated... Definitely a Whoa, Duuuuude moment *Surfer's Glasses*

Do people really use foreign slang expressions of over sentimentality?

This new who rubbish doesn't really elicit enough surprises unlike the original and best flavour.

Who is being overly sentimental now?

The only "Woah dude" reactions from the pre-2005 episodes is how awful they were.

Clearly I do. Problem?

All personal opinion. I've had plenty of surprises.

No problem. I was just wondering if people speak like that these days or whether it was a regional ideology where more foreigners live.

Professor Yana revealing he has a fob watch.

Rory asking the Cyber-boss dude a question whilst carnage begins outside. Not sure why blow everything up but it looked cool.

After 4 series of being told that the Daleks were the big bad in The Time War we find out The Doctor also sealed the whole shebang off because The Timelords had gone a bit 'Loco in Acapulco'.

When Sky Silvestry's speech overtakes that of The Doctors. A truly unnerving moment, gets me everytime

The gas mask coming out of Victor Meldrew's face. I couldn't believe it!

When Daughter of mine zaps the Headmaster.

The first time the opening titles played at the start of Rose. That uber fast swirling vortex, the Tardis and the words Doctor Who...had me hook line and sinker, they still give me a buzz those series one titles, pure excitement, much better than the dull slow, pipe and slippers, thunder and lightning vortex of 5/6

Tennant's cliffhanger regeneration.

**quietly jealous**

But I'd be quite surprised if you actually said 'Woah, dude!' in 1963.

Classic

1. Seeing 3 turn into 4 (I actually cried!)
2. End of Logopolis (considering the lack of comms at the time, I really had no idea it was going to happen)
3. Cybermen end of Ep1 Earthshock

Nu

1. Yana becoming the Master
2. Thousands of Daleks at the end of Bad Wolf
3. End of Turn Left

I'd probably have chosen these two as well. I remember watching Earthshock when I was about 10 - I nearly fell of my chair when the Cybermen appeared at the end of episode one. Complete shock. Far fewer spoilers in those days.

Although probably for me its more likely to be Doomsday that wins for new Who - the Arc turning out to be a prison for thousands of Daleks was superb. RTD at his devious best!

Yep the Earthshock Cybermen moment was one of them for me....as was Adric (at the end of the same story) thought he was too clever by half and tried to save the spaceship from crashing into earth.

Had no hint whatsoever that he was gonna die....poor boy!!

The regeneration of the 4th into the 5th Doctor.

The surprise appearance of the Cybermen in Earthshock.

Though I'd sort of read about it months earlier, the Daleks sudden appearance at the end of The Army Of Ghosts in Series 2.

The Daleks and Cybermen meeting in Doomsday.

Rose's initial departure.

The Master reveal in Utopia.

The trailer for Stolen Earth at the end of Turn Left.

The Tenth Doctor's Regeneration.

Also totally disagree with poster who said pre-2005 episodes were awful. Remember that without those so-called 'awful episodes' you wouldn't have any new who today.

Totally. BTW - classic Who was brilliant telly!

I shall try and pick one from each series of New Who, primarily because I think New Who goes for those sort of moments more consciously than the classic series did.

Series 1 - The Empty Child - Dr Constatine' s transformation (special props to "elevate" in Dalek though)

Series 2 - Army of Ghosts - The dalek reveal at the end (even though I don't like the story much as a whole)

Series 3 - The Last of the Time Lords - "The face of boe they called me"

Series 4 - Turn Left - The Doctor being on the stretcher

Series 5 - The Big Bang - Amy being in The Pandorica

Series 6 - The Impossible Astronaut - The Doctors death

The Specials - A Christmas Carol - Kazran being the Ghost of Christmas Future

None, because "dude" is my most hated word in the English language. I want to scream every time someone says it, which thankfully is very rarely.
Anyway, ignoring the use of language here, there are a few shocking moments I can remember. the most recent being when the Doctor popped his head round the corner, saying "Well, actually..." in The Wedding of River Song. I know most people didn't find this shocking or anything, but I honestly didn't see that coming and my mouth was hanging open in awe for the rest of the episode. In hindsight, it wasn't that brilliant, but at the time it was pretty bloody awesome.

The ending of The Rebel Flesh was also pretty shocking, definitely more so than the end of A Good Man Goes to War.
