The over-the-top reaction to the title from some people is slightly unsettling. It really boils your blood so much? Chill out, it's not a phrase I use in every day life, it's just a light-hearted, jokey title.

As for "use of language", please don't try to belittle me. Don't assume that I hold lesser intelligence because I chose to type the word "dude". You don't know me or my qualifications.

Dude.

Right, dudes, getting back on topic.....

I'm going against most of the previous posts with my "genuinely shocking" moment. It wasn't any of the big revelatory or surprising moments for me. They are amazing, but I expect to be amazed by DW.

(Though I suppose the death of Adric was a shock. Likewise one or two of Mel's screams).

No, the thing that shocked me to the core, and made me disbelieve my ears, was when, in Human Nature, the Doctor, (as John Smith), was asked by one of his pupils for permission to beat another pupil, and the Doctor said "Permission granted"!

I know he wasn't actually the Doctor at that point, but it's still so out of character that I was really given a jolt.

I suppose the pilot episode where the 1st Doctor is just nasty, I was like "Woah dude, chillax already!"

Definitely the death and erasing of Rory at the end of Cold Blood. And more specifically, the sequence straight after, with the Doctor locking the door, physically forcing Amy back, and flying off after a moments hesitation. Then Amy forgetting it all and the Doctor realising what he's done to the couple.

There's been plenty of shocking moments, but that one takes the biscuit for me as it just gets worse and worse and worse.

At the end of Bad Wolf, on the next time on Doctor Who trailer. Where there's all these Daleks and the Doctor asks how they survived and all of a sudden there's a massive Dalek going "THEY SURVIVED THROUGH ME!"

I've had loads of 'Woah!' moments.

Rose being the Bad Wolf

The Cult of Skaro emerging from the sphere at the end of AoG

Professor Yana's discovery of the Fob Watch:eek

Morvin Van Hoff's death in VotD. It genuinely upset me.

Rose's appearance at the end of Partners in Crime

On reflection of recent series, River Song's Death

Davros

Amy being inside the Pandorica at the beginning of The Big Bang

'Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue', Not really a 'Woah!' moment but it give me shivers

The Doctor dying

Little River regenerating at the end of Day of the Moon

Amy dissolving into a pile of gloop

Mel's being River. I knew it was coming but still

River being Amy and Rory's daughter. Again I knew it was coming.

The end of Closing Time with Madame Kovarian and River

Think thats it.

In the 'Mind Robber' - when the Tardis/Police-Box blew up ---- I thought "what the f**k???" and I was only 8 years old at the time!

The Daleks coming out of the void ship in the final scene of Army of Ghosts. As if the Cybermen weren't enough trouble.

The implication that Jack and The Face of Boe were one and the same in Last of the Time Lords.

The near-regeneration in The Stolen Earth.

If we're including moments in Torchwood; the sound of the TARDIS materialising in the series 1 finale.

I'm seeing a pattern here.

I think this moment will occur for me when Amy Pond appears nude in the 50th anniversary special. And stays that way.

Remembrance of the Daleks, end of Part One... "Quick, the stairs...!"

The cliffhanger to Androzani Part One - "Take aim, fire!"

Curse of Fenric, episode Three - "we play the contest again... Timelord."

This will sound silly, but the moment the US motorcycle cop accidentally drives into the TARDIS during the TV Movie.

Oooh, the model shot opening to Trial of a Timelord.

End of the World, "my home planet's gone..."

Christmas Invasion... "did you miss me?"

The M25 TARDIS car chase in The Runaway Bride.

The Stolen Earth - "I'm regenerating!"

Day of the Moon - "There's alway a way out" and, "it's okay, I can fix that."

Whoa Dudes and Dudettes!

The ending of the Van Gogh episode. The music, the camera work...Simply perfect.

Seeing Jon Pertwee regenerating into Tom Baker.

Planet of the Spiders is my earliest Doctor Who memory, I was 6 years old. I hate spiders so the giant spiders were scary, but the regeneration was soooo unexpected.

Anyway, ignoring the use of language here, there are a few shocking moments I can remember. the most recent being when the Doctor popped his head round the corner, saying "Well, actually..." in The Wedding of River Song. I know most people didn't find this shocking or anything, but I honestly didn't see that coming and my mouth was hanging open in awe for the rest of the episode. In hindsight, it wasn't that brilliant, but at the time it was pretty bloody awesome.

The ending of The Rebel Flesh was also pretty shocking, definitely more so than the end of A Good Man Goes to War.”

Definitely - it should have been the Series 6 Part One finale (with the hideous Night Terrors moved to Part One) and AGMGTW should have started Series 6, ,Part Two.

- Baby Melody dissolving into goo. I hadn't been spoiled about that and I really choked up.

- The Doctor's 'death' in TIA .

- Tennant apparently about to regenerate at the end of the penultimate episode of Series 4. Sadly, the resolution didn't live up to it

- Regenerating Mystery Child in TDOTM

Biggest "Woah Dude!" moments for me:

* YANA being a timelord...I was actually screaming at the TV...totally rescued series 3 for me
* Rory's first series 5 death
*Rose's appearance at the end of Partners in Crime
*The whole of "Turn Left" - this might be my favourite Who episode ever
*When the second Doctor grows out of the hand as the tardis is about to be destroyed in JE
*River revealing herself to be Melody
*The moment in "Rose" where the Doctor takes Rose's hand and says something like he can feel the earth falling through the universe. Hooked me right there and then.
*When Amy kills Kovarian

There are so many more...but these moments make Doctor Who for me

It's not the first that I saw, but I think the first "Whoa, dude" moment for the show was in the first adventure back in '63, when the Doctor was about to smash the caveman's head in with a rock, just because helping him wasn't convenient at the time. The first Doctor had several moments like that. In spite of everything else I've seen, that one stands out for me.

Those were mine. Though both times it more a "WHAT THE ****!?!?!?" than a "Whoa dude"

The Cult of Skaro's appearance at the end of Army of Ghosts and the Doctor seemingly regenerating at the end of Stolen Earth. The YANA reveal would have been better if A) I'd watched Classic Who and known who the Master was and B) If my brother and I hadn't guessed they'd get back to Earth using the Vortex Manipulator. But it was still an epic 15 minutes of TV.

Series 1 - The Doctor revealing Charles Dickens died a week after the events of The Unquiet Dead; I'm not sure why, it was cold and a perfect explanation as to why he didn't write about it.

Series 2 - The white horse appearing in The Girl In The Fireplace (I didn't really like this series and can't remember much about it if I'm honest).

Series 3 - The entire atmosphere in Blink was edge-of-the-seat stuff; but from that episode I'd go for the first time we saw the angels 'move'.

Series 4 - River's 'Hello sweetie' in Silence In The Library immediately resulted in a number of questions.

Series 5 - And the Pandorica Opens to reveal...Amy?!

Series 6 - Amy the ganger and the repercussions that had.

Specials - The Doctor walking away from the Mars base hearing the screams of the crew in The Waters Of Mars and his subsequent fall as The Timelord Victorious.
