billboard.com - year end charts - you should check it (the US versions of OFC - and its horrendously complex. In a good way
)thats how I know! I wish all artists success (as long as theyre genuine and not using something as a gimmick, that annoys me!) I have both albums too. I didnt buy 19 - I couldnt stand chasing pavements - when it came on I went bonkers LOL. Ive bought so many of rihannas albums, the only one I didnt buy was music of the sun - I was too young to know what a single was let alone an album, but 2006 onwards I wised up - fashion and music wise! ![]() of course, afterwards i read some sales forums that revealed the actual sales of the top 20 digital songs. so that`s when i realised that she would struggle to get top 20 in terms of sales alone. you should try her début, its not bad in that context.i wasn't fussed on chasing pavements either. i liked the other single from that album though. |

yes. cold shoulder is a fave of mine. i was shocked it missed the top 10. ive heard music of the sun, dad got it (he really likes reggae influenced stuff) but didnt buy it at the time.
the singles from 19 didn't chart well except for `chasing pavements` initially. radio made me aware of the other singles though and i got the album from the back of that. |

yeah, i guess the influences were home grown for the début, it was nice to hear that genre done again and from an emerging artist. personally, i like her genre changes and it keeps her relevant. however, you can still hear those early influences even now and especially so on `you da one`.

I don't get it !
I bought the album a couple weeks after it came out because of all the hype but it only has 2 decent songs on it. The rest is just elevator music. I tried to get into it by playing it in my car for a couple of weeks but I gave up. Its went back in the CD case on the shelf and hasn't been out since. I don't get why its selling so much. ![]() Adele's albums are best listened to when you are sad, dumped, or pining after unrequited love. |

cool. yes i thought the same about 'you da one' 'watch n learn' and 'we all want love'. she's lucky she can changes genres, as some artists cant either due to vocal stylings or their focus (ie a country/soul artist).
![]() it looks like `set fire to the rain` is going to be a big hit in the us. that`s my personal favourite track from 21. |

i am relieved the album is positively received. album 6 could have been too much too soon, i am encouraged it hasn't work out that way. she`s picking up more credits too, which adds to her credibility. i hope `where have you been` gets to be a single though, i love that track.
![]() it looks like `set fire to the rain` is going to be a big hit in the us. that`s my personal favourite track from 21. ![]() ![]() yes, i'd have preferred a re release and then loud realy would have deserved a potential AOTY win. i still think of TTT as an extension of loud, especially the love/sex themes. i personally think that rihanna does want love. and the 'heart on her sleeve line/i may be a little nieve' makes me think of her and chris brown. she's been writing more which is indeed good to see. where have you been, if not all the songs will be singles. as her manager said: 'TTT is all hits!' I understand them now. all the songs could easily be singles and top 40 hits. birthday cake should've been a full song because as soon as I get into it, it stops! rihanna's reviews have more or less been consistent from Music of the sun to TTT. which is good of course!set fire to the rain will be a hit, maybe even number one! with the exception of RITD adele has got a smash hit without a video. just like the 60s eh?

I'm willing to bet Amy Winehouse's Lioness: Hidden Treasures is more boring. Managed to half-heartedly get close to the halfway-point before I gave up. I liked Our Day Will Come but I realise now that that was probably more to do with how jazzy it was and all, rather an a genuine liking of Amy as an artist. I seem to keep making this mistake though lol.

apparently, there is going to be a full version of `birthday cake` and its already recorded. i would imagine there`s some truth in that, as you say it just stops as it builds. i just watched this teaser of the new video. love the imagery behind the concept. her accent is adorable as always.

I love the 21 album, each track is a winner for me. I still listen to it from start to finish almost every day, I never tire of it. It is funny, because I wasn't too bothered about 19 only a couple of tracks, but 21 is in a league of it's own. Can't wait for Adele's next album, even if it is 2-3 years away.

talk that talk's not that boring. Lol you'd think it was a SuBo album. if her singles bomb then you can say that - but single 1 is still destroying everyone in the US (longest number one of 2011 - i admit, not the biggest selling - i think its ok, but i dont love it - i prefer watch n learn
.And what has success got to do with the quality of a record?

I haven't listened to every album released this year, but i'll stick my neck out and say it's far from the most boring album of 2011. I don't love it, but it has its moments. Not the most exciting but not the most boring, hyperbole over Adele is certainly not limited to her fans.

Not sure what I'd have as the most boring album of 2011. I've liked every new album I've bought. |

I think it's a great album. 'Someone like you' came on the radio yesterday, and although it's been played to death, I still stopped what I was doing to listen to it and enjoyed it.

I completely agree. I like RITD but bought the album after I heard SLY. It's a stunning album. So I bought 19 thinking I'd like it, but I was really disappointed.

I heard it about three times in the car and was bored stupid. Really not my thing at all.
I find her very over rated and think it's now a case where people are buying the album BECAUSE it's done so well and just want to see what the fuss is about. |

Why is that posters who don't like a particular artist/album then feel they have to come up with a reason why other posters do like them.

![]() It's basically because they have a HUGE ego (mostly unwarranted I must add). If they don't like them their ego dictates that the people who do like them must in some way be delusional/lacking in taste/brainwashed etc. It's really quite pathetic. Plus there are posters on here who are seemingly only interested in saying who/what they don't like but haven't got the balls to raise their heads above the parapet and say who they do like for fear of having their choices picked apart in the same way they enjoy picking apart the choices of posters who HAVE got the balls to say who they like. Such is life...but I now which type of poster i would want with me in a crisis.
