Go back and read the thread, it isn't 'Why all the hatred for Adele's music".

Anyway I personally like my artists to pour their personality into their material. By all accounts you don't care if they do or don't so you must be listening to alot of lifeless stuff.

II don't hate Adele, I think she's pretty great and its great that she is repping the UK.

I just think 21 is so dull and its mostly American soul, I would prefer British artists to remain true to their roots.

hence it selling like hotcakes there. even though RITD wasnt a top 10 hit the album was massively outselling it until it topped the charts. it really is an american album. not surprising seeing the producers and co-writers.

Didn't she go to the Brit School in Croydon though? It's probably part of the curriculum in Croydon schools nowdays to learn that look.

I'm (sort of) joking by the way - I grew up in Croydon myself

I dont hate her, in fact I rather like 'Rolling in the Deep' and 'Set Fire to the Rain'. Its just that there's little else on the rest of 21 that I enjoy, and the media hype surrounding her this year is utterly suffocating.

All the talk of her being a 'REAL artist' who makes 'REAL music' which for starters I've found invokes a lot of music snobbery in certain people: "You should listen to real artists like Adele, not that manufactured garbage like Katy Perry/GaGa/Christina etc"

Its less about her that I dislike more about the hype and the snobbery that have come with her success.

I don't hate Adele I love her.

She is much more tolerable than Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber who are WAY over hyped.

It's easy an artist who achieves that high status and exposure will recieve a backlash due to the amount of people who are aware of the artist it's inevitable, the same happened to Kings of Leon. The phrase 'too much of a good thing' (although not everyone would agree what's 'good') you end up hating what you initially liked and in my experience it's only after not hearing it for a long time i realise what i liked in the first place and can enjoy it again.
It can be deserved also though as people get sick and fed up of constantly hearing the songs everywhere, you can't escape it even if you tried. It can feel like the only artists in the world are Adele,Rihanna,Beyonce,GaGa, Black Eyed Peas like they have a stranglehold over media.

There's hatred for Adele? Her music is LOVED by the public seemingly.

Although, on the subject, it always bugged me that she is so pro-smoking even though it's affecting her voice and shes had so many throat/chest issues this year...
It isn't a good message to send, and it reeks of an addict trying to defend their addiction in a way. I know it's difficult to quit, but when your health and career depends on it... priorities should be made.

No hatred but because her music has wide appeal and cuts across R&B, Pop & Easy Listening, every radio station is overplaying her.

She's liked by the majority OP.
I simply can't believe 21 is probably going to crack into the top 5 best selling albums in the UK. It looks so out of the place against the proper classic albums.

She often sounds thick and annoying when interviewed.

What hatred? Surely it should be 'Why the over-praising?' She is fantastic at what she does, but just because she's incredibly popular and selling so many millions of albums right now doesn't automatically mean she's the 'most amazingly talented' (as some like to claim) artist in the world.

However much 21 goes on to sell, I honestly can't see it being remembered as a stone-cold classic in years time, amongst all the truly great albums from years gone by which have sold similar amounts.

Her music is unchallenging, inoffensive and nice and yet somehow leaves you feeling unsatisfied, a bit like the musical equivalent of a "happy meal".

She's not slaying any of my faves.

She's just overplayed. Once you've heard Someone Like You everyday at work, several times a day you start to get a little annoyed.

I don't hate her singing, I just can't bear to listen to any of her songs because I've heard them so many times.

Agreed. In America because of Adele top class artists like Beyonce are flopping hard!

Because of Adele? So wait nobody else can do well because of Adele?? Beyonce hardly has a record of a big seller anyway so I think you are taking it a little far claiming it is due to Adele

I second that.

All Adele brings to the table is album sales and millions of these sales are bought by people who are just wondering what all the fuss is about, one play artist and then CD put in rack to collect dust. This years Susan Boil.

Album sales do not always equal quality.

Hate is a strong word! lol People are just getting fed up, it's natural to get fed up eventually of someone when they are so overrated. She's good but not quite as amazing as she's made out to be, the same thing happened with Lady Gaga with The Fame, minus the sales of course.

Beyonce is far from flopping it's just she has finally released a decent non commercial album that does not have the mass appeal of earlier albums and its called the billboard 200 Adele is not the only person outselling queen B

Because they feed off hate. Just don't read too much into it. The sales speak for themselves.

Well done Adele. The best singer I've ever heard.

Perhaps it may be pertinent at this point for you to list the singers you think are better? It's a bit like politics, isn't it? - always easier to be in opposition. Time for you to be in the firing line for a change?? I'll start you off - at the moment the only female singer i would rate higher than Adele currently is K D Lang (was brave enough to say this on Adele's AT). Over to you...
