I've always been against the idea of a female doctor, but I think this could work brilliantly.

What do you think?

Too often it seems that ideas are thrown out there like the next Doctor could be a woman or the next Doctor could be black-- the next Doctor just needs to be the best available.

For me the only way to approach the Doctor role is when its next due to be filled open it up to any decent actors to apply for it and then whether they be male, female, black, white, asian etc etc , the best person gets the job.

Anyway a woman is fine by me as long as their biological age is 900 +. I could do without having some raging psychopathic Doctor appearing on my screen every fourth episode.

I just don't like the idea of the Doctor being a woman. I don't think it would work well. I know it's never been tried so I can't say for sure, but my instincts are all against it.

No no no no The Doctor must always remain a male. Don't care if he's black white or any other colour but he must be played by a male actor.

Male or female I couldn't give a toss, but please god keep that horrible woman away from the show.

Not really keen on the idea of the Doctor changing gender, but if they had to
go down that route Helen would be great!

EDIT: Wait a minute, what do the HP mean by describing
Amy Pond as "doomed"?

I'm not a big fan of her either, but I don't see why there can't be a female lead in another show, rather than in Doctor Who; the longer Doctor Who goes on the less integrity it seems to have- it's long been established that there are Time Lords and Time Ladies- and, for me, the rewriting of the show's history just makes the series less special.

I would prefer the role of the Doctor to remain as it is. However, how about someone ginger next time

It will never happen. No showrunner will ever risk their reputation by being the first to try it. It's just a risk they don't need to take.

A few weeks ago I saw her first ever role, in Herostratus.

Helen Mirren wants to play the Doctor.

So do I, but I haven't a chance either.

That would certainly allay any worries, about the Doctor getting romantically involved with his female companions.

You have your alternative:

Alex Kingston would have been awesome.

As Stephanie Cole is now working full time on Corrie, Helen Mirren would do. But only if Samantha Bond is already booked.

I'm laughing my arse off at them saying "Russell T Davies and latterly his protege[sic] Steven Moffat". That's like saying Philip Hinchcliffe was the protégé of Barry Letts or that Bob Holmes was protégé to Terrance Dicks. *shakes head*
