.and volunteered to adopt our dalmation....which does officially belong to my older daughter who left him here nearly 3 years ago...before going to uni,
that ownership extends to making a fuss of him on the rare occasions she stays here....but apart from that I do everything.....from feeding, insuring and walking him.....
When I suggested to my daughter that her grandparents had volunteered to adopt her beloved dog.....she had a major meltdown on the phone.....

We have kind of reached a compromise...he can be loaned out to grandparents during the week...but if and when she is at home , the dog has to be here for her.....
I am kind of torn....and speechless at my darlings daughters concept of pet ownership.....
dump a dog on your parents, and assume they have no problems looking after him....and then make a huge fuss when someone who does love dogs offers him a home where he will be spoilt rotten......
and even though said daughter is due to finish uni this summer...her idea is to work for a few months and go travelling.....so where is said dog meant to live.....????
something about having her cake and eating it ...springs to mind....!!!”

next time she's home make sure the dog is still with your parents; see how bothered she is after a while. If she's insistent it comes home, lay down some rules like a contribution towards the dog's keep, etc.... see if she then agrees it'd be better off with your Dad.

........see you later folks
