I'll listen to that. I love their version of 'Song to the Siren' too.

When the tenderness of Songbird follows the almost punk like anger/energy of Go Your Own Way on Rumours. Just the opening notes that follow those crunching power chords. One of my favourite moments ever on an album.

Jackson Browne singing For A Dancer with just a piano is beautiful as well.

Yes, it is. Brilliant.

How about Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness followed by Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins on the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness? Very heaven.

That piece of music always gets the goosebumps into action! How can a piece of music be so heartbreakingly sad?

The first time I remember hearing it was in the film Lorenzo's Oil - an heartbreaking moment in the film when Nick Nolte breaks down in despair in a stairwell because his son is so ill and he's struggling to come to terms with not being able to help him.

That part of the film had me in pieces when I saw it in the cinema and I have loved it ever since... There is also a superb recording somewhere of the Adagio sung by choir .. I haven't found it yet but I will one day!

Knowing the background to a song can make a big difference to how you feel when you hear it
I'd always liked "Everything I Own" by Bread. Just thought it was agood song about a relationship breaking up and the guy wanting her back.
Then I read an interview with writer/singer David Gates and he said he'd writtne it after the death of his father. Next time I listened to it all the lyrics took on a completely different meaning, and I just filled up with emotion.

I still find it hard to listen to if I'm on my own.

Some random lines from it...

You sheltered me from harm,
kept me warm.

You gave your life to me,
set me free

Is there someone you know,
You're loving them so,
But taking them all for granted
You may lose them some day,
Someone takes them away,
And they won't hear a word you longed to say.
