Could EastEnders do a Tube disaster in 2012? would this work? where a train would go off the tracks and into the Square?

Maybe not a train crash as it'd be too similar, but perhaps the Tube station could explode. It might be deemed too controversial though.

I'd absoutely love EE to do something like a train disaster or a terriost bomb but it would never be allowed, plus EE dont need stunts usually for high drama.

London Underground and Transport for London are very strict on the use of their brand images, even down to the font they use on all their advertisements and signage is a sensitive issue for them. So you can imagine what they'd say if the BBC approached them about blowing up a train or station and that's before you start thinking about 7/7, the Olympics and the constant threat London is apparently under from terror attacks, this will only be heightened as we approach the summer.

A simple crash or bridge collapse might be possible but they'd still have to get trough TfL and LU, they'd probably demand that anything related to London Undergrond or TfL be excluded from the episode so a random made up train company could crash but that would seem very unrealistic.

Getting very bored with the woman beating doctor and how unrealistic his new wife's scripts are becoming, her previous charicter would suggest that it would be the other way around,I wouldn't want to fight her,But she does seem lacking in the gey matter department , time to end it ,aflfie & story is stale time for change there too, maybe grant should return and sort out that fat branning brother, and maybe a few others too

Meh, at least EE keep their stunts in moderation. A certain other soap is having its 100th stunt of the year tomorrow.

Perhaps the Tube could crash off the end of The Arches?

Given that the line goes nowhere... (opposite Walford East station, the line comes to an abrupt end!)

I recall they actually did show it when Charlie Slater left, though it was filmed at a real station

I don't think it would work. I would prefer they have a serious, dramatic storyline that's well written, not something that's just meant to be really dramatic for an episode or week of episodes but adds little to the show as a whole.

Indeed they did.

To the OP who thought the area I was on about isn't connected to Albert Square; even if the Tube line wasn't linked to Walford East then shouldn't end just like that.

If they ever do do something like this I hope the aftermath is better than the aftermath of the Corrie tram crash. The stunts in Corrie were excellent but the show was back to normal within 8 weeks with both shops open for business and looking exactly the same as they did before. We were told the effects of the crash would last for years but it's like it never happened.

The aftermath would have benefitted if there wasnt a live episode

The upcoming fire is enough for some time.
Ee isn't very good at stunts, so they should not do them often, so they can focus on the ones they do. I rather have them do a stunt once in a few years, and make them really spectacular, instead of loads of badly done disasters.

Maybe in two years time a group of characters could go on a trip with a van, or a few cars, have a special week, with at least a twohander, or a deep, long conversation that will move some characters along, then the crash happens on the way back and several of them die, others get hurt and of course it takes place somewhwre the lines are bad. Alternatively, it could be a boattrip, or a fire in a bungalow, even a shootout, or robbery gone bad. A drive by shoot out would be too controversial i guess.

Phone won't let me edit, but i forgot:

We could have one character drive a car, and have a heartattack, or something, causing a runaway car that crashes into the market. Some other driver might try to get out of the way, causing more damage. I would like the first driver to be Max, he smokes, has a stressfull job and familylife, there are more man his age who get heartproblems, especially with a stressfull life like that. He could survive it, due to an airbag or something. Others, who got hit by him, or another car, or got a marketstall on their heads, things like that. About 3 or 4 people could die, a lot more could get hurt, someone might end up in a wheelchair, preferably someone strong, who would need to get to terms with his disabilty and reinvent him or herself, away from being athletic, tough or a walking talking barbiedoll.
