think its because its one track that the alternative/cool crowd can like...its not so twee or slushy as nearly all other crimbo songs.

Always loved it and always will. People seem to hate it more to want to appear alternative and cool, that's the feeling I get.

disagree

i dont think anyone is that stupid to say they dislike a track (regardless of whether they do or not) in order to appear cool....

I absolutely hate it as well, and I'm actually a big fan of Kirsty McColl.I just find it it to be tuneless, incomprehensible, shouting gibberish.I suppose that's why it's so popular.......

It's bad enough hearing it in December, but a couple of years ago I heard it in early August,on Desert Island Discs, when it was twenty something degrees outside.Totally surreal.

Just wondered.”

I do like it, but I feel as if I could throw something large & explosive at my radio if I ever hear it again.

After John Lennon's 'Imagine', surely it is the most played record in the history of the Universe?

I thought I was the only one that hates it.

Can't stand it. Drunken Irish pub band. Kirsty was better than this.

To my ears it's just a bloody boring song.
I don't like the sound of his voice. He can't sing to save his life. I don't like the tune.
I think a song like I Believe In Father Christmas by Greg Lake is light years superior.

Can't bear it, also can't stand 'War Is Over' by Lennon/Ono

drunken irish (or any other race...dont want to be racist here...lol) pub bands can sound good though, abit of a light hearted drunken laugh, great stuff, its how pubs should be.. its the backbone of folk... but im not supporting this track, just drunken irish pub bands!

He's Shane McGowan. He always wakes up with a hangover.

No other Xmas song has 'scumbag' or 'faggot' in it either.not a fave but I appreciate its uniqueness

I don't like it either. It's so dismal. Add to that the fact that I only knew the song after Kirsty MacColl's death so it always makes me think about her tragic accident!

Now that is my most hated Christmas song! So depressing. War is over? Try and sound a bit happier than! I remember it playing on the radio one year when I was going through difficulties, so hearing it always temporarily puts me back in that mind frame. Hate it, hate it.

I like the parts Kirsty McColl sings.

I find Shane McGowan to be annoying.

Michael McIntyre took the p*** out of this song on his Christmas show last night. He hit the nail on the head - you can't understand a bloody word from Shane McGowan. I doubt there are many people who can sing the words to this song.

I can feel pity for whoever/whatever I like, and I thought your terrible taste deserved some.
