Can anyone fill in the holes for me as someone who doesn't regulary watch the show.

They got MARRIED?
a) How did Zainab and Masood get a divorce so quickly?
b) Yusuf let Zainab burn. WHY would she even get close to him? Does she know it was him?
c) Zainab was physical and domineering enough with Mas and her kids why is she suddenly this wimpering Little Mo type?
d) Zainabs had alot of time alone - with Yusef out why on earth hasn't she just left
e) She had opportunity with the police. Even if Yusef denied it they'd have to investigate and see the child was safe etc

Basically I can answer all those questions in one answer....Christmas Day! Bosses needed something big to happen so everything has been forgiven and after weeks of characters having personality transplants and acting like a thick piece of s***s tonight order will finally be restored.

The Yusef/Zainab storyline has beenn dismal and it started off with so much promise but the scriptwriters seem to be making it up as they've gone along.

As mentioned on another thread, I think this is a knock on effect of the babyswap storyline which was supposed to reach a conclusion this Christmas. As it was cut short, I think TPTB needed something to fill the void hence the very long, dirgy, over-running Masood family/Yusef storyline which should have been wrapped up months ago.

Ahh i see. Even if they were expecting a "baby swap" conclusion why didn't they just go for Pats death as a main feature instead of ludacris plot devices?

1. They did it in line with their religion, and the marriage was dissolved in seconds (for TV purposes)
2. She DIDN'T know it was him at the time. He manipulated her and her family to worm his way back into her life, tricking her into thinking that their previous life together was perfect until his family (he claimed) burnt her in the fire and he said that he got injuries trying to save her (all a lie as he has now admitted to her that he burnt her).
3. She is a typical victim of domestic abuse.
4. Too scared to leave, for fear he would hurt the baby.
5. See above.

Hope this helps.

What I'd like to know is why is Yusef terrorizing Zainab for something that happened X years ago? Surely you don't just move half way across the world, get married to a woman who left you and you set on fire, for no reason? Or is it just plain revenge?

Merry Christmas everyone btw too!

But why? Surely he would have thought "nah, won't bother with that. that's too much bother. besides it was 20 years ago."

This storyline is fantastic.

I think the acting has been on fine form. I think it's developed well throughout the past few months.

The actor who plays Yusef is fantastic and Nina plays it to perfection.

Nina is such a fantastic actress.

I agree! It's like they've just built a one way tunnel labelled "Yusef/Zainab Storyline" And anything that tries to challenge it is blurred out of existence..

Not realistic at all the storyline but what can you do.

BTW: You all go on about the writer and how he's not good (which I agree) but how long has he been in *power*?
