On which was last week's chart was still no 1 until tonight and the new chart but why can't both No 1 acts (Little Mix and Military Wives) get credit as both Xmas No 1 acts?
Because it's impossible to have 2 official number ones on the same week. Lm's sales were for the previous week and MW's sales were for this week leading up to xmas, and they sold more this week.
Because Military Wives have technically been number one all day. The cut-off point for sales is Saturday at midnight, so even though Little Mix might have been number one on the Radio 1 website etc for most of the day, they'd already been knocked off the top spot. It just hadn't been announced yet.

Or in other words, you're gutted that crappy X-Factor puppets are not Christmas Number 1 but you don't want to be insensitive about Military Wives

Why..? They know the number one every single week by around Sunday morning but they don't announce it until 7pm
Little Mix Sales: Sunday 11th Dec - Saturday 17th Dec
MW Sales: Sunday 18th Dec - Saturday 24th Dec
So Military Wives sold more this week but don't deserve the number one..? Maybe the week before we should have shared #1 between Coldplay and LM for no reason whatsoever..?
I don't get it? Why would you want to have two number 1s anyway? Think about what your saying. There can only be 1... That is the whole point...
From Sunday morning, to Saturday night when people purchase singles, the information is collected and the resulted are calculated on the next Sunday morning, then the single with the most purchases gets the number 1 slot. How can that be hard to comprehend?

you do realise that the Xmas No1 battle was over on Tuesday 20th December when Music Week announced MWC were over 200k copies ahead of No2?
could have announced at any time last week and it would have still given the same result

So, although all X Factor winners have made no 1, 2011 is the third time they have not had the Christmas no 1. Little Mix peaked too soon after Steve Brookstein and Joe McElderry had to wait until the chart after Christmas.

The Military Wives programme was repeated the other day and as far as I can remember "it's for charity" wasn't said at all. It was all about putting on a performance and I don't believe a Christmas single was ever mentioned.

Oh grow up. Just because Mr. Cowell's latest puppets failed to get their precious Christmas no.1 But of course, anyone who dislikes X Factor is a music snob!! Typical anti-music fan
You read a thread like this from the OP and suddenly realise that people really do believe all the sob stories and contrived see through nonsense every year on X Factor.
My gift to the OP is to think of the X Factor like a script. It is all planned. They control it all from week 1. Every last detail. That way it maximises the financial returns.

The music charts is for all ages but it seems to be that the majority beileve it's just for kids. Even so teen acts seem to dominate the charts these days.
