How much can we expect record sales to fall by now that the Christmas period is over?

I reckon the Top 40 position this week would've sold roughly 15k, so what kind of sales figures would be expected in different areas of the chart now that no-one (apart from very late people ) will be buying for Christmas?

traditionally, after a quiet week, come the new year new tracks were released after being held back over crimbo. by mid january there was alot of new tracks in the charts which inevitably transfered to sales.... cant say its like that now though.

I was surprised to read yesterday how few tracks you need to make the top 10 in Christmas week this year-I think the track at number 4 sold around 50k-50k out of population of 60 plus million-that's bad, very bad.

some acts used to try and release in January to try and sneak a surprise no1 in, I know Victoria Beckham tried and failed to do that once!

now most acts seem to wait until February and the BRIT awards to release something.

I woulden't be surprised to see Coldplay's Paradise climb to no1 once all of the Xmas music has slipped out the chart.
