For once I can say without hesitation that I agree completely with the OP.

UNLESS she got Artem. And that would be a laugh!!!

She appeared in a musical at the theatre up the road a few years ago and I thought she was alright in the role she played, but I do find her "Su Pollard" persona a bit too much to handle.

Some celebs it's a case of what you see is what they are, like them or not, most others it's all an act and the real them is totally different from what's on show.

This being the season of goodwill and all that I'll put my neck out and say maybe the private SP is far more likeable than the on show SP, and were she to tone it down she may have a few more supporters out there.

If you put her with James no one would get a word in edgeways, not even Bruce

Agree, at least, if you mean the same Plastic as I do. But I do join the OP in asking not to have Su on the main show! She wouldn't be a serious contender anyway, and I'd like some more of those next year!

To be fair, she was wonderful in Hi de Hi!

It's when she's being interviewed that she comes over badly, but even then some of what she says is very astute.

She says herself that people say "Oh she's not coming is she? I'll have to lie down with an aspirin afterwards!"

On the whole, you wouldn't want a lot of it, really.

i met her years ago, right at the height of the hi de hi fame, and she was an utter snob. she was opening a show where there were international, olympic medal winning show jumpers, she wouldn't talk to us 'normal' people, even complained about not having a private toilet, whereas the show jumpers were more than willing to stand and talk, even allow us to pat the horses. A friend of mine worked at a theatre when she was in panto, and apparently she treat the staff there badly too. so i was really hoping she'd fall flat on her face!!!

Okay BBC, we know she probably did the show for free, but it was embarrassing and we really don't want to have to start a petition, do we?

Similar experience. Again, at the height of her fame, I met her in a health resort. I say 'met', actually she wouldn't speak to anyone and insisted on commandeering the one sitting room so that she could supposedly have peace to write something. War and Peace no doubt. Sorry, but can't stand the the woman

Yes it would, but Artem might leave and that would not be funny

It seems obvious that the BBC having included her in the Christmas programme would ask her to "do a Grant" in next year's series.
"So now the search will go on."

God help us.

Well, at least she's said she's too busy. (Whatever it is she's doing!)

I wouldn't want Sue to be on the show either, not because I particularly dislike her, but because she didn't show any real potential (before the show, I actually thought that underneath that eccentric exterior there might be someone who could reveal an expected talent). Having her on the show perpetuates the view that if you are an older celeb then you are not to be taken seriously. If we are to have someone older on the show (and I think we should) then I prefer someone more with some elegance (in the style of Honor Blackman say although I've no idea whether she could be a good dancer)
