well I didn't cry, but I must admit it's upsetting to hear you watched it alone. Have you had a lonesome christmas? or did you kick everyone out whilst you watch Dr Who?

I had something in me eye ... okay?

Nope, but it was damn close. I will never understand those who criticise Matt's performance, he can just rip your heart out when he wants to. Helped having Karen throwing out brilliantly funny lines mind, the delivery of "she's a god girl" had me in stitches.

That said, there is something about I Am The Doctor and it's many variations that gets me every time. Honestly think its one of the best bits of music ever written for a TV series andi can't help getting drawn in to whatever's on screen when it kicks in.

In my defense, it was sweat running from my forehead into my eyes after eating something spicy. The tears were from that.

Yep, the lancaster on the lawn and the Doctor's tear got me !

Incurable romantic, that's me!

I was starting to wonder if I was out of step with the rest of the the forum on this episode.
I found it delightful family Christmas viewing.
I'm at a loss to understand the foaming mouthed rabid anti-Moffatt hysteria.

Yes, I did - and I'm not ashamed to admit it either...well, not on here, anyway

The Lancaster on the lawn got me too; but what really got me was the scene with The Doctor, Amy and Rory. I am so glad the wife was out at that time

Me too to be honest. It still bemuses how these people complain (on this forum) about the episode while it's still being transmitted. If they could pull themselves away from their keyboards for just an hour and actually watch the episode...nah, that's never gonna happen.

I cried a bit because of the lack of a DW Christmas Special.

It was scheduled, but apparently cancelled because there was some "Make a wish and we'll all live happily ever after" stuff on instead.

Yeah, got a bit teary. There's something about Moffat's writing that touches me, there's something about Moffat's style that must be in tune with my own sentiments I suppose.

The ending was predictable (I knew that Reg would come back to life, though I didn't guess how), but it was really nice to see them all hugging on the lawn. There should've been more scenes taking advantage of the Dorset countryside, damnit!

The flashbacks dealing with Reg's death did leave me a bit sad and feeling sorry for the kids (and Madge), but I was positive that everything would be OK in the end. No way a Christmas episode was going to end with the kids staring the reality of their Dad's death full in the face.

The last bit, with Amy and Rory, was nice. But if anyone cried at THAT, then that's just silly. But their unshakable faith that the Doctor would stay for dinner with them was touching, I guess.

The only Xmas Special I cried at was "Voyage of the Damned".

It was so painfully bad it made me cry for the hour of my life I had lost and could never get back.
